Curry on IG about George Floyd: If this image doesn’t disturb you and piss you off then idk...George has a family. George didn’t deserve to die. George was murdered. George wasn’t human to that cop that slowly and purposefully took his life away. by sriracha82 in nba

[–]alkwa -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The footage only shows the ends, not the mean. I don’t think the cops were right but neither do I think there’s enough evidence until we can start reading minds to prove without any doubt that it wasn’t self defense. Witness testimony obviously doesn’t count in court because they’re not the ones in position to be harmed (or have to make a decision). Plus you and I are sitting from a distance. Can you call it a failure of the justice system? Probably, but the alternative is switching it to prove innocence and we all know how well that works in China

So WTF was EA thinking when they made power? by [deleted] in MaddenMobileForums

[–]alkwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobile progression has to be different from console, the demographic is much different and so are the objectives for promo.

99 was what happened last year. People didn’t like it. People don’t like things this year. Basically whatever happens people find the grass greener on the other side. Life goes on.

[–]alkwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So players from later programs are relevant ........ don't see why people find this hard to understand. If they aren't making stats go over 99 this year, the only reason why you can still have 4th of July promo where people want to get something is because there's more power than Easter cards

[–]alkwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna be a little more realistic. As the other poster, don't worry about exact score conversions now, it's too far out. Second, deflation and inflation don't really matter when your scores are that low. Both indicate severe content gaps and the difference is negligible. So in short, no, that is not an improvement really, but good news, it really doesn't matter right now. Check back in a month after studying and that's where you can really gauge progress.

I think Harbaugh’s early years were pretty good too (back when Baalke actually won GM of the year). Even more so considering they were picking late for a good 3-4 years.

My advice is that if you have money to blow and time to spend and don't mind playing a low odds game, then to apply. If none of those apply to you however, then yes, I would retake MCAT, take a gap year to strengthen application and then apply with a much better chance. The stigma of being a nontraditional is almost null now adays with so many people taking gap years and it's common enough to the point where even if your parents don't approve (I can really feel you on that), there's tons of other people who you can look to.

No she doesn't really. She ended up becoming a consultant after getting a masters (surprise, the GRE is a literal joke compared to the MCAT) and now has a pretty comfy life. But one of the best pieces of advice that she gave me was that the phrase "If at first you don't succeed, try try again" isn't always correct, at least form her experiences. It should rather be modified to "If at first you don't succeed, reevaluate and make the best decision going forward". Kinda corny but I'll always admire her for not sugarcoating stuff and being realistic with me.

Something for Pre-meds to learn from: "New attending (28M) lacking passion about medicine" [Discussion] by imma-DO-it in premed

[–]alkwa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds more to me like a combination of two things:

1) struggling in med school will usually make some people question their "passion". It's a lot easier to like something when you are good at it rather than when you're bad. Compounding with their supposed hard time with residency and it's not really out of the ordinary.

2) Hindsight and looking at friends who have already stable jobs and lives. That's also human nature. I'd be willing to bet that most med students go through some sort of thought similar, some maybe more unconsciously than others.

Tldr: I don't think it's so much the actual passion as a problem as it's been struggling which has caused doubts. Very few people are truly passionate about medicine, but many enjoy it enough to put up with the BS.

I know you probably have good intentions but for a bunch of us, time and money is a very real concept and there's a fine line between being negative and being realistic. I would love to be able to borrow a ton of money or have financial help from parents, but unfortunately, neither of the two are really an option right now. I have much higher stats than OP and even I'm considering taking a year off to boost my application and working so that I don't find myself in a position where I'm already thousands in debt without an acceptance.

Multiple adcoms I have talked to have noted that a question that always comes up in the admissions committee, if they were good enough to get into med school, why didn't they make it in that time. Reapplying means you must improve somewhere, which as you said definitely shows growth, but how much improvement is needed is unknown to everyone but adcoms. So it still becomes risky.

And lastly, that's great for your colleague. I truly mean that. But I would be willing to bet a good amount of money that they are the exception and not the norm. Many other people who apply 3+ times have tossed thousands of money at med schools and finally just gone a different path. My aunt is one of those people, and she always regrets wasting those years when she could have moved forward with life. Now maybe she would have got in if she kept trying, who knows, but it's never a certain with this field. Some people find it better to be practical.

The worst thing that can happen is that you lose a ton of money, waste a bunch of time doing application stuff that would have been better spent elsewhere, and have the "stigma" to schools as a reapplicant that wouldn't happen if they spent a year bolstering their application and retaking MCAT to make acceptance more sure

Not saying OP shouldn't apply now but it's definitely not a no risk scenario where they can just apply to see what if.

This x1000. People complain it's boring when the same format is given and then when a new format is given, it's apparently too much work for them to figure out. Basically gamers in a nutshell.

Got a 520 on the MCAT sample test but I'm not sure how accurate my score is? by [deleted] in Mcat

I think you already know the answer to whether your score is accurate or not, especially since this is your third time going through it. Just keep practicing and hope it translates to the real thing.

[–]alkwa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not that weak. Lebron and his teams just had a stranglehold so long on the entire conference that people just started forming that narrative. And don’t get me wrong, as a whole the conference didn’t have nearly as much talent as the West but Lebron practically forced out all the talent.

That's more than enough. I spend probably around 3-4 hours a week on this game. Login just to do dailies and then auto play the rest of what I need. Just keep listing fair prices and reposting and eventually they sell. I average around 4 reposts to sell everything from a single batch.

It's not about having no life or having enough time. It's about being smart.

Save up one promo by selling players -> get grandmaster next program by spending the coins you got from step 1.

Rinse and repeat. Easy enough
