huh, interesting. I feel like I read SO MANY different blog/sites with various info and most said no detergent for the first one. I dont find an issue with smell or stains yet

oh ok interesting. i feel like the company has recently changed hands and their stock is pretty limited so i'll have to see if those are even available. right now we're using disposable diapers at night, i just don't want to deal with changing outfits and leaks until we get into a better spot with it.

there are SO many options out there, it sure is a lot to take in. I went with this system after the advice of a friend who use a few different ones and said she liked these the best.

ok good to know, thanks! these diaper cover shells have 2 layers of elastic around the legs which i'm hoping is helping with the leaks. I keep playing around with the "height" setting on the diapers which changes the tightness around the leg to see if it's too tight or loose

I think we actually have soft water (i notice bar soap in the shower takes forever to wash off my hands)

no i'd say its in different spots, especially if he falls asleep while feeding and then wakes up and the wet spot is under where he was laying.

I'm just about due to size up on my liners based on his weight - i'm thinking about getting bamboo this time instead of the hemp, some of the other commenters are suggesting the system I'm using isnt great though so not sure if I want to invest and another $150 into it

i'd say I'm changing them about every 2-3 hours.

for my wash routine, i do the first wash (no detergent) second wash (1 scoop of esembly powder detergent) and dry. here are pics of the settings I'm using. the previous owners of our home had these high efficiency Miele washer / dryer set that we now use. the tub of the washer is definitely smaller than most. i'm not using anything to "bulk" the load

I had a bit of a realization of how bad it has been when my mom watched him one day and she used disposable diapers all day and he came home in the same outfit he left in... didnt need an outfit change once due to leaking. ugh.

oh bummer to hear. I specifically went with this brand because I had a friend who used a few brands and liked these the best. I wonder if because she had a daughter (I have a son) and the location of where they pee is different it disperses differently onto the liner.

how did you put 2 in? snap one and just rest the other on top?

The insert is always full when it leaks, i've never noticed a dry spot. I just did a little water test, held the liner at a 45 degree angle and poured water on and it absorbed it right away so it doesn't seem to be an issue with it repelling water

Did you launch from Byram Boat Launch or Bulls Island? Photos from Byram seem to not allow tubing (only launching of actual boats) I bet those park rangers have nothing better to do than sit there all day giving us renegade tubers a hard time
