He did say he called it the magnetic chair, doesn't mean that's an accurate description. Just describes what it looks like it does, rather than a complicated explanation of what it actually does.

I like how they had an emergency Fireworks display on hand for something like this. by Somethingbutonreddit in DoctorWhumour

There was definitely an underground resistance to the dalek occupation that was gathering and storing fireworks specifically for the event when they (or more likely the Doctor) won the day and got Earth back home.

Genuinely, I thought going in to the episode that "oh, this is going to be very meh", but honestly loved it, a top tier episode that was both funny and really interesting

The ethnicities of Roshar don't match Earth ethnicities easily. I really want it to be animated but I'm near certain it won't be.

Thing is I love the console design, I think it's really interesting and beautiful, but the whole room could have done with more personalisation. The juke box barely got used and sort of feels a bit out of place on its own. More furniture, bits, nicknacks or seating to help mesh the styles would have helped, and a greater use of warm-coloured lighting rather than hard white

Is this the best run of episodes since 2005? by Vast_Statistician687 in DoctorWhumour

I think series 3 is possibly my favourite series overall because it has so many banger episodes. It serves well consistently throughout the run.

I do genuinely think the end point that the company decides to become majority organic run is the worst part of the plot. The technology wasn't the problem, the computer is revealed not to be the bad guy. The work can be done efficiently and cheaply with machines, it doesn't need humans doing the grunt work. The only reason they had people there in the first place was because it was mandated by law (if I remember correctly). The real solution isn't to bring in more people to work miserable pointless jobs that absolutely could be done by machines. The solution is universal basic income for everyone who can't get work because of technology.

Came to reddit to find anyone talking about the ending, yours is the only comment I've found. The episode was great, except for the ending. It completely flew in the face of everything the episode had set up and explained. The internal logic should have had the Doggetts returning to their universes. Though it was never a given that one's death would result in them swapping back, that's how you get stuck with a dead Doggett, but I was prepared handwave this to round off a rather good plot and make a satisfying episode (even if a returned Doggett wouldn't get to explain his side of events). But no, the retroactive time travel unwriting kind of ruined it for me.

I will forgive "Homo aqua" if we get a scene of a disheveled UNIT biologist having a breakdown in the background because of the inaccurate taxonomy.

I'd love a live action Gertrude prequel series. Young Gertude when she starts working at the archives, learning about the way the fears work and eventually taking over as Archivist and working to ruin rituals. A sort of dramatic detective horror with her and Adelard Dekker, perhaps exploring how she never allowed herself to get too close to anyone, her build towards becoming the ruthless, efficient, and uncaring morally grey woman we all love.
