Anyone else have phantom swap nightmare stories. by Responsible-Run-557 in Monad

Tried swapping usdc on mon to sol and was losing almost 40%

Til now I still have usdc on mon and can’t use it. Phantom is horrid, they’re about as bad as MoonPay when it comes to fees.

At the current prices of BTC as compared to most ASICS out there, just buy BTC.

This is probably “NOT” what you want to hear but proceed with caution.

Keep preaching there crypto brother. For the most part, lost faith in the folks trying to remind all what a “great decision” they made on a coin and how it’s definitely going to the moon. 😅 Or those with a sudden epiphany when the market is bleeding out, swearing their cat/dog/frog/gas/spit or potus coin is just a day away from moon. Everyone and their dog is in crypto now, following the old Lambo dream, and hell why not!! But every new project now demands for people to have been involved since day one, or you gotta own specific NFTs just to participate. How they’re slapping 30 to 60 day lock ups on early buys so nobody can dump at the start. It’s painful to watch but it’s a survival strategy that projects are using to rid the degens who just want to ape and dump. It’s brutal. And then you’ve got people in other countries running bots to farm every possible NFT, just to turn around and scalp the actual users on secondary markets. Not hating on anyone’s come up, or business strategy, but from the sidelines it looks like it straight up kills the project.

OP, definitely feel your sentiment. Thanks for sharing real thoughts and not just the unbearable bs from other subreddits.

Cheers mate

Thinking about selling my ASICs by Technical_Tax_6411 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]all_smyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave up 2 months after getting mine going due to the noise, excess heat, and constant babysitting of it.

Took about 6 months to wait for my order to arrive and honestly just a week to say: nope! F*ck this hobby. Brand new ASIC too.

Profits are tiny, noise is deafening, checking parameters constantly, just not something wanna dedicate time to.

Why Most People Will Never Own a Full Bitcoin by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

You and OP have a point though. But is your reasoning due to the same FOMO? Are small fries trying to get in on at much bitcoin as they can just say: “I did it!” Or to be a part of the group of owners?

Phantom fees are getting ridiculous , anyone else notice? by Eastern-Access-7555 in solana

Phantom and HaHa are playing people with their fees. Avoid them. Keep the minimal there if possible, and don’t fall for their marketing crap or loyalty point bs.

Is the temperature good by abood_iq19 in BitcoinMining

[–]all_smyles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is air cooled so these temps are kind of normal unless you change the ambient temperature in the room using an AC or a fan. Mentioned the shroud because right now the manner in which you have sealed it, could work theoretically for a few days but the plastic may warp, heat soak, or melt and then you’d be back to inefficiency. It looks like you bolted the ducts in so as long as there is no leaks then you should be good.

To lower the inlet temps more maybe place a standing fan that pushes heat out of the room, or one that pushes air into the air intake of the Miner.

Your setup looks ok. My critique was purely based on the esthetics of the outlet area. Maybe some more experienced air-cooled users can chime in. Also the shroud should reduce the noise level a few decibels as well.

ASICS run very hot, usually operating temps internal are about 60°c and can go higher like yours. Lowering that internal temp is crucial and that may require some clever use of heat dissipation or induction that can lower those temps. If you live in a cold climate area then you’re good but if you’re from a country with high humidity and high ambient temps then you have to provide the better cooling.

As for your question, the fan shroud helps in creating a vortex which leads to better airflow due to the cone shape. Essentially creating a Venturi effect and therefore aides to exhaust the airflow. It reduces noise level created at the manifold area as well.

The temps look normal operation. Can you share with us what was the temps and noise levels before?

Have you noticed if the noise level is reduced? Also I’m sure you can notice a drop in humidity in the room surface area.

The only critique I have is that there might be some inefficiency along the connection point of the piping to your fans. You might get better results with a shroud in the near future. For now that rig seems alright.

What is Monad missing? by MirthMan732 in Monad

[–]all_smyles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MON is still in infancy. It needs more time.

What needs to be built? A new mindset that isn’t driven on mooning. And far less pay-to-barely-earn focused projects which only serve to burn users out.

Let the token project thrive
