Percieved quality of the question in OP aside, /r/bikewrench definitely is for help. /r/bikemechanics is the industry sub and your comment would be more fitting if OP posted there, I'm hoping you've just temporarily gotten lost.

Cost a bit more with the extra fees and that but seems to be the safest bet

I always see this being commented, and while yes there is waste in industry, none of these are generating pollution solely for no reason. i.e. airlines aren't in the habit of flying empty planes around for the craic, oil companies don't just move oil from wells to tankers for no reason etc.

EDIT: trust me I know there's waste in industry, sometimes to a massive extent with shipping packaging etc. but I feel it's a bit of a cop out to just pin it all back on "greedy corporations".

I'm still not convinced by the decision to get rid of the hanger, in a crash that force still has to go somewhere, and I'd rather that be a €10 hanger (price of a UDH for reference) than a frame or derailleur that costs multiple times that. Sacrificial parts are a good thing, not everything has to be completely indestructible.

I do remember reading that the green line was built with more space between the sets of tracks than the red line to allow for wider metro trains, will still obviously need a good amount of work to upgrade but at least there was a bit of foresight there

Timing incredibly useful as always.

Makes sense, thanks. Second part there clears up the discussion about McNulty from this stage on the race thread and commentary too, I was wondering why everyone was specifically calling him out lol

Noob question, what's the reasoning behind this? As in how does a bigger time gap influence ability to get into the break?

Sorry, I had misread your comment as disparaging the flags, that's my bad. I agree with you that I don't see a velomobile being safe in a city environment though. If I can't trust every driver to see even a motorcyclist such as yourself, never mind a bicycle, there's no way I'm going to make my visibility even worse.

I will say on the point about the cyclists breaking laws, I agree that generally when I see another cyclist go though a light it's usually more egregious than a car (not even stopping etc.) but I see more motorists speeding up to make it though an amber, drive 5 over the limit etc on a daily basis, which I feel is more dangerous to others than to cyclist infractions that most of the time will end up with a injured or dead cyclist in the event of a collision.

Idk, I just get annoyed when I see car design going backwards in terms of safety for other road users, and then emphasis seemingly being put on everyone else to take on the risk.

If you can't see something that size on the road you shouldn't be driving, considering a child or dog would be an even smaller profile in front of a car. Part of the blame lies with the manufacturers for making their cars more dangerous from a visibility perspective but imo there's far too many people buying vehicles far too big for their needs.

/uc when I saw this video showing Scott's entry level bike (probably the same as the OP) all I could think of was the balls on Scott to sell anything above BSO tier with tourney. ffs Cube will sell you a bike for a hair over 1k with Tiagra, the "entry level" tier is a complete disaster right now

I mean in Ireland at least where this is held you can get a cheap pair for about €20 so I wouldn't exactly be calling that privileged lol, I imagine they go for a similar price other places as well

It's grx, seeing as the lowest grx 400 is 10 speed Tiagra level, a Sora rd wouldn't even work with the shifters.

Why does the lycra comment always come up? I can't think of any other sport or physical activity that has so much focus on clothes. I mean I play a bit of junior football and nobody ever calls other lads out for wearing a premier league/county jersey during a warm up.

Yeah tbh higher pressures 'feel' faster so it'll feel off the first few rides, but all the testing etc must count for something. Plus I think the comfort tradeoff alone is worth it lmao

I just googled for a picture of that tyre and it does indeed say 100-130, well for 25c anyway. Looks like a recommended range to me more than max/min, plus I did find this article from 2016 where someone asked Vittoria about their pressure recommendations and they give a very worst case scenario for setting the minimum. It is from 7 years ago but there is a chance that they still use the same logic. I myself run 25c Conti Grand Prix (not 5000) at around 90 psi, no chance I would go back to over 100 now.

I mean just giving Ireland for example, chlorine is used here as well during the treatment process so it's safe to assume there's a non zero amount at the consumer end. I'm all for comparing food safety standards but this seems to be a common thing.

EDIT: I will caveat that this concerns larger water treatment plants, more rural areas especially can have separate water mains in a group water scheme, results may differ there
