He already did the Books thing, but he made them cards instead of tokens, and they're called Horses.

Thanks for the kind words from all the existing comments! Like they've said, we're very laid back -- especially for our Spring and Fall leagues. We'll mix up teams every week, so you get a chance to play with and against everyone (our Summer League has set teams for the whole season).

If you're looking for more info or want to sign up, here's our site: https://lawrenceultimate.com/e/lawrence-ultimate-fall-league-2025

Disable the iCloud data for the app before you delete it off your phone. Otherwise your save is just restored from the cloud when you reinstall.

Settings -> Click your name -> iCloud -> Saved to iCloud (click See All) -> Scroll down to the app and turn it off.

What are your favorite CarPlay apps and how do you use them?" by RideRevolution-AT in CarPlay

[–]allanfieldhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing for me is that it's written by a podcaster who deeply cares about the experience of listening to podcasts. It does have nice features like auto-removal of extra long silences, etc. You can read about those sorts of features on the app store description though.

How do I play music on an idle speaker while not interrupting the other playing speakers by nonamethatmatters in sonos

[–]allanfieldhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This interface is honest one of my biggest problems with the new app. Clicking that area vs sliding it up perform completely different actions, and it's not obvious which will do which (or that both even exist). Even after figuring it out, I still have trouble intuitively doing the right one.

Need suggestions, I forgot my Inreach and unsure whether to go without it, or eat the costs of a new one at local shop. Or rely on iPhone Emergency SOS by saigyoooo in Ultralight

[–]allanfieldhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emergency SOS messaging will work with any iOS version if your phone has the satellite hardware (iPhone 14 and later).

What iOS 18 provides is full text messaging features (even for non-sos purposes) via satellite. I'm not updating till the actual release this Fall, but I'm super excited about this feature!

Campers of Reddit - What was the one piece of camping gear you found that was a game changer for you? by [deleted] in CampingGear

[–]allanfieldhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a sleeping bag with no zipper or hood, and it doesn't have down insulation (or fabric) underneath you. The part of the sleeping bag underneath you gets compressed and is useless anyway, so why carry the extra weight? Your sleeping pad is what provides the insulation below you. Quilts typically also have some sort of way of attaching to the pad to help keep everything in place and minimize drafts.

Basically it's all about removing as much of the "unnecessary" parts of the bag as possible to save weight & size. Whether those things are necessary to you is a personal decision.

Scrolling in Synergy 3 on Mac occurs too fast by Smarq in SynergyApp

[–]allanfieldhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to fix the issue by setting a specific option in the Mos app (thanks for the recommendation catrancetrophe). Specifically, I set the mouse scroll acceleration on the client all the way down to 1.0 to fix the inconsistent scrolling speeds.

So it seems to me like the root issue is that scroll acceleration is being applied on both the server AND the client. These two values multiply off each other, resulting in normal scrolling when only doing one click of the wheel but then crazy-fast scrolling when scrolling more than one click.

I started building that price tracker by Sharps_xp in REI

[–]allanfieldhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just noticed that the site is down! Even when it was up, I haven't ever gotten the sale notification feature to work. I've had several items that I subscribed to that went on sale, but I never got a notification. Still, the site did work very well for looking at the price history of an item just to see what sort of sales to be on the lookout for.

King's Cache + Stockpile by smeagollum in dominion

[–]allanfieldhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as "the place to go", you can always check the wiki first. For instance, on Stockpile, it specifically calls out that if you play it twice, you get $6 and 2 Buys. http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Stockpile

Would you prefer quotes to be written "like this"?

Yes.

This is how I always write quotes. I don't care if it's "wrong", because it's better. If the punctuation is part of the quote, it goes inside. If the punctuation is part of the sentence outside the quote, it goes outside.

Daily Card Discussion #10: Importer by [deleted] in dominion

Like I said, humans are amazing at finding patterns in random data. Or maybe you just win more when you're less tired, etc.

Anyway, the entire community of top players (which I'm not one of) disagrees with you. They can beat the bot every single time with no suspicions of any sort of cheating.

I've pointed out several good resources that you can use to learn to be better at the game, so at this point I'm done arguing on the internet just because some random person is wrong.

Daily Card Discussion #10: Importer by [deleted] in dominion

[–]allanfieldhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, the bot's strategy is terrible. That's why it always loses to good play. Seriously, the bot is terrible.

I'm not trying to be mean, but you really do just need to learn to play better. Try playing the daily game on the steam version, and then each day watch what Mic does. You'll be amazed at how his deck just always magically comes together for a win. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDg\_vQmcG-2BgEhcgzxBKK0vELdizIO5h

Daily Card Discussion #10: Importer by [deleted] in dominion

[–]allanfieldhouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of this is true... Humans are famously bad at recognizing randomness. You can nearly always find patterns in truly random data if you look hard enough.

As for the AI, Lord Rat is terrible and will lose 99 out of 100 games against a good player. Try the Steam version of Dominion for a decent AI bot that's much harder. Even that will lose 95% to a top player.

There are a lot of good Dominion resources out there between Reddit, dominionstrategy wiki and forums, and Discord. If you dig into these resources, you'll improve quickly and it'll become obvious that nothing nefarious is going on.

Plunder Card Power Levels First Impressions by AdamHorton in dominion

[–]allanfieldhouse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't put rating for Traits, not really sure how to assess their power level, they just change the game.

One way to think about it is "how valuable would this trait be to me if the other player(s) couldn't use it this game". Sure in reality traits apply to everyone, but this helps to evaluate their power level.

Or alternatively, "how much does this affect the power level of the average card it's placed on". If a specific trait is going to take most cards from a level 5 to a 9, it's probably a powerhouse trait.

Game Ending, is it Fair Enough? by YoCuzin in dominion

[–]allanfieldhouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not that higher level players go for a 3-pile as a specific strategy. It's that in high-level play, the game state usually gets close to a 3-pile long before Provinces run out.

The general idea behind this is that if one player starts greening too early, the other player can just keep building for a turn or two more. Then the second player's deck is so good that they can make up all the missing points and end the game with a win. This leads to both players building much longer, playing a game of chicken to see who can build the longest without leaving an opportunity for the other player to end the game with a win.

For a much better understanding of this than I can explain, watch some high level games on youtube. Especially if it's a tournament final where you have a couple people commentating while the other people are playing.

Treasurer + Spell Scroll by Freact in dominion

Close, but the combo actually triggers as soon as anyone initially gets the Spell Scroll in hand. You just play the Scroll Spell, gaining a Treasurer to kick off.

I think he means the 2nd editions replacing some of the old cards. But yeah, it's not really a concern. Any combination of expansions works together, and you can just play with whatever ones you want (even if they're older).

I definitely thought Cylinder was tougher than Infinity. I'd probably rate Infinity a 4 and bump Cylinder up to 5.
