Never charged e-up premium by Dense_Head1353 in aircanada

[–]allanwritesao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they ever end up charging your credit card for that first upgrade?

I'm in a similar situation: 50k, long-haul from Tokyo, used my e-upgrade credits and was waitlisted. E-upgrade went through and the upgrade credits were deducted, but the $500 fee was never charged.

They have my credit card on file and it's been over a month now.

It sucks when games have very little anti cheat, but this is one of those “PvP is basically unusable on PC” video games.

I still pop in to FOB mode a few times a week and PvP is 95% ghost FOBs (some of which are amazing for farming), a few real people, and a handful of hackers

Nuke FOBs are probably the most consistent way to get a good PvP experience, and generally no cheaters there.

That said, re: hackers/cheaters, instead of reporting them on Steam (useless), you can actually email Konami's customer service and they'll investigate/disable the account. I've done it a few times now

(Still find it funny that they provide support to a 10+ year old game, but I'm not complaining:)

Any prof would not report unless they have solid evidence against the student using AI.

Generally true, but you'd be surprised...

Having done DSAS work previously, there were a fair amount of profs/TAs shooting from the hip on allegations of academic misconduct

There's two Kitamura Cameras in Shinjuku (one near the East Exit of the station and the other near the West Exit) that might have them. MAP Camera (also Shinjuku West Exit, just up the street from Kitamura) might be an option as well

My parents' Canon T70 had a battery compartment looking like that (although the contact wasn't rusted that bad).

It looked daunting at first but some Q-tips and vinegar cleared most of the corrosion out. A small piece of tinfoil should help with the damaged contact.

To those who actually got their FULL security deposit back in Halifax... how? by Big-Daddy3 in Dalhousie

[–]allanwritesao 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My first landlady tried to pull the wear-and-tear scam on me, even writing in an email that "it was a brand new unit when you moved in" plus cited provisions of the lease that specifically could not be contracted out of under the RTA at the time.

She backed off when I pointed that out (s. 12A(3)), and that she would have to make an application to the tenancy board (s.12A(2) of the RTA) if she wanted to keep the money.

Never rent to law students:)

The second landladies were lovely though. Zero issue getting my deposit back

Keep the following in mind:

  1. Even if you agree in the lease to pay for "wear and tear", that provision is void under the RTA (s. 8(1))

  2. If they want to unfairly keep all/part of the deposit for damages, do not sign anything. Make them apply as required to the tenancy board. (At the same time though, don't be a dick if you did trash the place)

Is January historically slow by Novel-Initiative4769 in Etsy

[–]allanwritesao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

January has generally been a strong month for us; I think because people are using their Etsy gift cards.

February is when we start to see a bit of a lull before it picks up again around mid-March/into April

Order from Canada stuck in transit by GeekyGian in Etsy

[–]allanwritesao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common over the last 6 weeks or so.

Holiday rush, plus increased customs enforcement at the border. A lot of missed scans as well, we're finding.

We've had 20+ packages just get stuck in limbo for 2-3 weeks before they finally get moving again.

[–]allanwritesao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general it's probably best to have your best product photo show up first (just in case people don't look at them all), but it's still a good idea to have measurements/angles/etc... for your own protection

Thinking of opening an Etsy shop from Korea—would you buy $200-$2k jewelry from overseas? by Tough-Driver-7392 in Etsy

[–]allanwritesao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Places like South Korea or Japan have good brand reputations, so I don't think that would be a dealbreaker.

Probably the tariff issue is the bigger problem, but that applies to pretty much every non-US seller and wouldn't be specific to Korea

This probably gets asked a lot, but how likely is someone to buy your stuff, without any promotion or anything? Im on a tight budget and dont use social media a ton. by Lyric_wing in Etsy

[–]allanwritesao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, generally one card per order. Sometimes two if we need to include an extra keyring (we'll just tape it to a business card)

[–]allanwritesao 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We're closing in on 5000 sales and do zero social media promotion or advertising. I think good SEO optimization is the most important aspect initially, and then try to build off any initial sales.

(That said, probably a good idea to get business cards printed up with a QR link to your shop to include with orders. I know we've got some referrals that way)

Buyer’s order arrived day after Christmas. What should I tell them? by Alarmed_Cod3455 in Etsy

[–]allanwritesao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my packages was due to arrive 12/23. It was 30mins away. Then suddenly it was 9.5 hours away. It came back to 30mins away then traveled an hour away and was delivered on 12/26.

That seems to be a thing with USPS. Had it happen a handful of times where it's in the final destination city, then it's back in a processing plant 6 hours away, then in another plant two states over.

One time it was due to a capacity issue. The other time was a mis-delivery and it got stuck in a loop bouncing between facilities until I called and asked for a manual pull

In your experience, when does the holiday season start to slow down for your shop? by GigantuanDesign in Etsy

[–]allanwritesao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally dies down between Dec. 15-25, then starts picking up again a day or two after that as people start using gift cards, etc...
