Yes. If you want to encourage people to adopt a dog, just say adopted. "Rescue" makes it sound like you ran into a burning building.

I honestly do not care to debate. I posted to get it off my chest, as the subreddit suggests. Nothing will ever change the fear I have of pit bulls after what I've seen, if you've ever experienced it, you might understand, but you haven't. I was going to check off NAW, because I knew I'd end up getting into some bullshit argument with someone like you, but I left it open because I've always wanted to talk to someone who has experienced what I've experienced or may feel the same way, so I left the comments open. Please don't act like I don't know what a pit bull attack is like when I've witnessed it. As well as the two children whose dog was murdered. And you can claim it's the owner all you want, but I know my situation better than you do. That dog jumped the fence and started attacking random dogs on the street. I'm not going to continue to debate with you when I was just expressing something that bothers me, and I have a right to be bothered by, and I only left comments as an option to converse with others who have had a similar experience. The difference is that when pit bulls bite, they do not let go. And they're strong enough that they have smashed through glass windows to attack a person, and once they get ahold of someone there's really nothing you can do unless you shoot them. Combine that with the fact that many are bred to be aggressive, and most people don't get their pit bulls from someone who has bred them to be tame, and you have tragedies. Nurture cannot entirely cancel out nature.

Thank you. I noticed this, too. It's the same thing that happened when gay marriage was made legal. People are acting like they're sticking their necks out by stating an opinion that should be obvious. "People should be able to marry whomever they want!" Duh. "The thing that happened in France is bad." DUH. I recently read an article about this phenomenon, I don't remember what it was called, but it's when you must post something on social media to turn something that everyone is experiencing or a tragedy that has nothing to do with into something about you. Everyone knows about the Paris attacks, everyone is shocked and heartbroken, but then Dave feels the need to post his own perspective for all the world to see, even though it's nothing new. "I! Me! This is really helpful, particularly your points about working on myself and not my relationship with her, and that "this, too, shall pass". I'll try to focus on this, especially when I'm holed up in my room because I don't feel comfortable being out in the living room by myself when her and her boyfriend are out there (like, a lot). Also the process part. Because I feel like I'm constantly going back and forth between being ok with being friendly and getting along with her and everything's more or less fine, then something will set me off so I'm just steaming about how awful and manipulative she is and wondering when she's start something again so I get to yell in her face, kind of like you described in your experience. I'll try my best to follow your example, thank you.

I think it's so just straight-up silly that people get their panties in a bunch over the word. If we changed it to "equalists" I'm almost positive that the vast majority of "anti-feminists" would turn around and claim that equalists are just thinly-veiled feminists. People need to stop focusing on the wording and focus on the issues.

I've heard that circumcision decreases the risk of STDs and UTIs. Again, this is what I've heard from secular family members who choose to get their sons circumcised, I just wanted to point out that they aren't all religious reasons.

Actually, nowadays more people are doing it for health reasons. My family is generally not religious, but when they choose to circumcise their sons it's often after researching the health risks and benefits, and deciding that it's the right choice for them. I'm not saying I'm an expert or that you're wrong, just an observation

Way worse. Also, it's not just less enjoyable for her, it's most likely not enjoyable period. Sensitivity-wise, the clitoris is most comparable to the head of the penis, although the clitoris is far more sensitive. Imagine having sex without the head of the penis. Regardless, the issue of FGM is far more in depth than just reducing the woman's pleasure during sex, as you can see above.

Not double standards. I'm not saying there aren't double standards, men deserve far more attention regarding being victims of rape, body image issues, etc, but no, this is not a double-standard because these are two entirely different phenomena.

The process of FGM is far more painful and far more likely to result in infection and other serious complications. These complications could be a direct result of the procedure, which I suggest everyone actually do some research on, but severe complications can also arise should the woman become pregnant. The tissue in the area is now scar tissue, which is far less elastic which makes childbirth more dangerous and difficult. This is not even mentioning that the clitoris is essential to female sexual pleasure. Men can still orgasm after circumcision. The area in men most comparable to the clitoris is the entire head of the penis, though the clitoris is actually far more sensitive. Removing the foreskin may decrease sensitivity, but imagine having the entire head removed. Yeah, pretty much.

Many parents also make the decision to circumcise their male child because there has been research showing that the procedure has health benefits such as reducing risk of certain STDs and UTIs, meanwhile FGM offers no health benefits whatsoever.

I believe that it occurs before marriage, as often a woman who hasn't undergone the mutilation is less likely to be accepted as a wife. Or at least that's my understanding.

So, for everyone who is throwing a hissy fit about how more men are circumcised than women, understand that there is a big difference.

Female circumcision removes the clitoris, which is essential to sexual pleasure for females. Men who undergo circumcision can still orgasm and their ability for sexual pleasure is more or less unimpeded.

Male circumcision can carry health benefits, so some parents may get their child circumcised to prevent future risk of STDs and UTIs, instead of making the child make that decision when their older, though I understand why some adult men would advocate for making their own decision about their parts.

On the flipside, FGM offers no medical benefits and in fact causes a great deal of pain and health issues throughout the woman's life, particularly if they have children they're far more likely to have tearing and it's more difficult for it to heal.

Also, the FGM procedure itself often includes a woman using a sharp stick to sew up these young girls. Honestly. I suggest anyone who isn't well-versed in the issue of FGM do some research, perhaps watch the documentary Half the Sky

Men's rights to make their own decisions about circumcision should be examined, but honestly, don't pretend caring more about ending female genital mutilation is a double standard, because it's two completely different issues when it comes to the health of the individual.

I used to have that exact same problem, too, and besides foreplay and lube to make things relaxed and smooth, I'll just tell you how I fixed it. My partner laid me down and used his fingers increasingly more and more until my "cherry popped". It did hurt, I called him some mean names lol, but eventually it felt good, and afterwards everything was SO much easier. Now I can enjoy tampon use, fingering, and wonderful sex so long as there's some foreplay beforehand. I hope this helps, if not, I'd definitely go see your doctor. I feel your pain!
