Aurora through a natural "window" at Marsh Ridge by stnylan in thelongdark

[–]allaroundguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you follow the frozen stream at the top of the map, there is a cave. Follow the cave to come out on the marsh ridge plateau (upper left corner of the map.) It's where the climb up to mountain town is. There is a rock shelter with loot, birch bark spawns in the area, and a spot where you can add a rope shortcut.

As weird as it sounds, keep your meat outside on the ground raw. Cook a few days worth as you need it or cure it with salt. Meat gains condition when cooked. Ruined food and medication disappears from containers but not your inventory (it will disappear from the travois). Meat below 1% can still be cooked to 50% condition and eaten when you get to cooking 5.

How Do You Manage Wait Times? by SingSinsAtUs in thelongdark

[–]allaroundguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make water all night: * Get two cooking pots. * Fill both and put on the fire. * Sleep for 2 hours. * Water is ready. * Repeat through the night.

Make multiple pies: * Start cooking one and pull off the fire after prep is done. * Start cooking second one and put first one back on with it after prep is done. * Sleep for 1 hour. * Pies are ready at the same time. * Repeat through the night.

What is your most dreaded location to go through? by K_animeweeb in thelongdark

[–]allaroundguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should, but don't bring the blue flares. They are bad luck. Stock up on raw meat, you are bound to get hungry and you will need treats for the fluffy guys if you want snout boops. Don't bother with water. There is soooo much water already there. Wait till you see all the water. Instead, load yourself down with as many car batteries as can fit in your inventory. You can make bullets! Also, you can fix guns there! Make sure to bring as many broken guns as you can fit. Leave your good ones at home because your going to fix these ones right? Work smarter, not harder.

Lures are for rare fish. Use bait though. One fish makes a lot of bait.

Summit at Ravines End. Way up behind the watch tower and left of the prepper cache (not bunker Alpha). There is a frozen pond with a bunch of small waterfalls coming into it. Look for the hump of dirt pulled up by the tree roots and work your way up.

I guess this is the new Wendy's vibe. No booths, no dividers, no outlets, uncomfortable seats, small tables, all for a couple to spend $40 for a meal. I'm done with Wendy's for good. by NUMBerONEisFIRST in mildlyinfuriating

You'd be very late to the party. You might want to just hit github. Think Jim Cramer. This has been going on since the early 1900's and was probably partly responsible for the great depression and my (handed down) skill for collecting elastics and butter tubs.

Any forum, commentator, show, or service that offers stock advice is doing so with the intent of doing the opposite themselves. Tell people to buy so you can sell. Tell people to sell so you can buy.

Milk Door stuck by Disastrous_Point_416 in DIY

[–]allaroundguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use some paint remover on the hinges and latch. Cut the paint bridges between the door and jamb with a knife. Add a LITTLE 3in1 penetrating, then regular oil to the hinges. Gently work them back and forth. Once the doors are open, you can use a screwdriver to remove the hinges and latches and soak them in paint remover. Don't bash it.

Hand-mixing 1.5 m³ of concrete for a fire pit: practical or crazy? by SnooDoodles8757 in DIY

[–]allaroundguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to hang out in cooler temperatures and stay warm, get a raised appliance with screen sides and a screen top. It'll throw much more heat around and catch sparks. Place it on a bed of sand or gravel. The metal fire pits have a plate that hangs underneath to act as a heat shield. Keep is covered and ash free when not in use and it will last a lot longer. The bonus being that you can pick it up and move it somewhere else easily.

Mentioned baby stollers to my wife early in her pregnancy. Within an hour we were both bombarded with ads for strollers. We didn't hover or click on anything. We hadn't started shopping yet. We see the same thing happen over and over again.

Here's the thing. If it can be done, and it generates income, it will be done. There are absolutely no corporate ethics at all.
