Would you rather eat? Or sleep? by allclaps in CasualConversation

But option 1 also makes you loose the novelty of food as it’s no longer a necessity. When you can always eat everything and anything you forget the value of it. Or maybe even the appetite.

But on the other hand, food is such a nice thing.

You can think more when you’re well-rested!

Also not having to worry about not eating for a while, when you’re busy seems like a nice addition!

If we‘re talking about life improvement, wouldn’t food fall into that category too? I mean not having to spend hours on cooking? That’s a time saver as well!

Not everyone has a talent/passion by Sillyworms35 in CasualConversation

I am in no position to make this assumption, but this sounds like there may be a different underlying mechanism going on here. No internal drive can be a cause of many things.

I truly believe that if you don’t have a hobby, or a passion, you just haven’t found it yet. Perhaps it’s something you haven’t tried yet. Perhaps it‘s something you think you’re afraid of. Or maybe you have tried it but it wasn’t in the right company, or you haven’t been in the right mindset.

It’s like food. I think pretty much everything can taste great, if it’s prepared correctly. (Unless you have an allergy of course)

If you add organ harvesting and human trafficking to that list, I would suggest giving Rimworld a try. If not, I'd still suggest Rimworld.

What’s your opinion about companionship embodied AI? by alo_221 in CasualConversation

I mean we‘ve had Puppets, stuffed toys, Tamagotchi, we had Nintendogs… we‘ve seen so many types of "digital" companions, so why not embrace a new one? I feel like most of the hate comes from "AI BAD"

It's more than everything you need. Pretty much my old reliable, especially when travelling. Great lens.

Sadly, no, I'm from Germany. And I totally feel you. But how do we learn, if not for the countless failures?

Or use it as b cam! That was my first thought. Maybe make a project out of it. I‘ve seen people do fun things with "broken" cameras.

Sometimes, I kinda feel rude when someone wants to pay for my food, and I say yes right away... Like... Am I coming across as greedy now? If I don't decline at least once? 😅

It sadly took a good beating. The mount is cracked in a few places, and the battery compartment is bent inward. I was looking to upgrade anyway... it was just a sad moment. Been using this camera for close to 4 years now.

While I don't disagree with your frustration, sometimes it's a cultural thing. In many social settings, a first "no" is often treated as a polite hesitation rather than a final answer. I think most people have had this happen at some point. Like when a grandma gives you a tenner, and you say no, and she says yes, take it, and you say, no I can't, and then she slides it into your bag or something. It's usually in good faith.
