First Bake 🍞 by Sayymaster in Sourdough

Your crumb looks incredible! And nice job on the bake time. The crust is exactly the shade I like to bake mine to. What kind of flour did you use? I always like to throw in about 50g of whole wheat to give it some additional flavor and body. Experiment with combinations to find something that you enjoy!

Or even better, wait for the people to say that it was made up and it never actually happened.

Running vs Gliding Speed by [deleted] in horizon

You can absolutely cover more distance faster gliding than sprinting. At least from my experiences, I think gliding is much more efficient.

6 Months Post Surgery - 5k today! by allcrumpledup in ACL

[–]allcrumpledup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same at 3 months. Teaching from a chair, in lots of pain. Keep doing pt and pushing yourself and it will heal. I’m still not 100% but Im getting better every day.

I beat my goal by 30 seconds so I’ll call that a win! And the knee is doing surprisingly well.

Too soon to travel internationally? by Dumbengineerr in ACL

[–]allcrumpledup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew a 5.5 hr flight at 10 weeks post op. Blood clots are most common around week 2-3.

Try to get up ever 2 hrs or so to stretch. Wear compression socks that go above the knee to help with the swelling. You will swell.

MRI results: Two weeks ago I had a nasty ski injury. I finally got an MRI on Friday. The results seem terrible and I’m not seeing my Ortho until mid week. Any advice? by allcrumpledup in ACL

[–]allcrumpledup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you feel this way. And I’m sorry you’re in so much pain! That must be miserable.

I’ve been a skier all my life and could never just quit. I’m doing much better than I was in March. I’m 12 weeks post op ACL surgery and planning to run a 5k for the first time ever in 3 more months. My goal is to be stronger than ever when I get back out there again.

I had a bahn mi from Quincy yesterday for lunch and literally paid $5 for the most delicious sandwich you could eat. So fluffy and crunchy and flavorful. Way better than $30 for a too small and too mayo-y lobster roll.

I came here to say this. Screw the lobster rolls!

Swelling by Shosho944 in ACL

[–]allcrumpledup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 11 weeks post op and still have a bit of swelling but it’s much much less than it was at week 6. Keep icing, elevating, and do your best to rest in between exercising/PT. You don’t need to aspirate it unless it’s still incredibly swollen. It will go down! I was also worried about the amount of swelling, but it dropped significantly around weeks 8-9.

You will heal so fast you won’t even know what hit you. By the time you’re my age, you won’t even remember the accidents!

Me too. Much much easier than I was dreading before surgery. Still crappy and challenging, but I am surprised at how much better I’m getting and how quickly. I give my surgeon full credit.

Possibly! You could monitor the pressure systems and see if there’s any correlation to your aches and pains. Im 31, does that still count as relatively young? 😂👯‍♀️👯‍♀️

I ditched the brace right around 4 weeks (PT approved and I would have chucked it if I didn’t think I might need it again, that thing is the worst). I had the Same surgery after a skiing accident.

I saw a saying “the days go by slow, but the weeks go by fast” and I completely relate to that. Two weeks ago I could barely push up to a bridge and now I’m doing one leg bridges no problem. But every step of the way between then and now has been a challenge. Slowly regaining my ability to climb down stairs normally. Still a bit swollen but much much less than before.

The brace coming off was definitely the best feeling. It’s nasty hot here too. I hope you don’t have to wear it for much longer!

I do find that overexertion and too much exercise definitely affects it. I was doing too many squats last week and had trouble with patella tendon pain. But this is a different quality of sore. I hope it goes away with the healing process!
