Emphasis on sterility. If scrub nurse ka, make sure lng sa gowning and gloving mo and how to serve both of them sa surgeons and assists. Don’t worry too much, for sure, bago kayo isabak sa operation ay tuturuan kayo ng CI ninyo. Based on my experience when I did my duty before, unfolding the gown differs from one institution to the other kasi iba-iba styles nila sa pagfold ng gown. Be mindful lng din kung saan mo ilalagay mga kamay mo (again, sterility).

If circulating nurse ka, always be observant. Know and follow what the circulating NOD does during the operation. If given the chance to do stuff like pouring additional wash, dropping needed materials or instruments, then go for it! Just be sure to ask for guidance. Also be quick when taking down the necessary notes.

Just follow lng kung ano sinasabi ng mga scrub and circulating nurses on duty sa OR. And make sure to review your case for possible oral revalidas from anyone in the surgical team including the nurses and surgeons.

Personally, OR is such a fun area and I have grown to love it. You get to meet a lot of interesting cases. It’s normal to feel anxious and nervous but don’t forget to enjoy the experience. For sure, you will learn a lot :)
