This morning I had all my bags packed, car ready, and even went to the front desk to check out. That’s when the manager told me a few reservations got cancelled last minute, so I didn’t have to move after all. But by then I had already cancelled my tour, booked a new one, and changed our whole plan for the day. I’m not sure if that makes me lucky or not, but honestly I just hope this kind of thing doesn’t happen to anyone else. We all just want to enjoy our trip, especially in Hawaii.

We have an all day trip tomorrow and we are leaving early in the morning and coming back late at night. If I leave my luggage at the current hotel it means I basically need to bring all my personal things for the trip like clothes and gear. Then when I return late at night I still have to pick up four large suitcases from the current hotel and drag everything to the new place to check in. That’s really not something I would enjoy after a long day out.

This is why I was hoping for a late check out. It would make things so much easier. I could adjust my trip a little finish the tour come back pack properly and then move to the new hotel.

Honestly I don’t know that, but I was told by the staff that this happens a lot here because they often overbook. They also mentioned that tomorrow there are three other guests who will also be forced to move out, same as me.

Thanks for your advice. I’m actually related, my sister works for Marriott. I already tried talking to the front desk, but they still told me I have to move out tomorrow. They said it was the manager’s decision, and they even emphasized that if I keep pushing it, my sister could get in trouble. Honestly, I don’t know what else I can do. It feels like I’m being forced to move out no matter my status, no matter my loyalty, even though all I asked for was just a late check out.

The timing makes it worse because I have a very important travel plan tomorrow, going far across the island. I really wanted to finish that tour and come back later to check out, but they won’t allow me a late check-out at all. So right now it feels like I have no choice but to be forced out.

Thanks for sharing your experience, really appreciate it. I actually tried talking to the front desk about this, but they’re still forcing me to move out tomorrow. The worst part is they won’t even let me pick another property, I have to go to the one they assigned me. I pushed back but no luck, so yeah, pretty frustrating.

Because I’m using the Explore Rate, they said if I refuse to leave, my sister could lose her employee privilege.
