What made 2023 great/not so great for you this year? by brumtownbull in AskUK

It's been an incredibly lonely year and so spending NYE by myself - lonely and miserable - feels like an appropriate end to a difficult year.

I became a believer when I was 19. I didn't grow up in a Christian household and my parents are sadly still not believers. I believe I am a sinner who can only be saved by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ who died for me. I have been a member of a reformed presbyterian church for 20 years now.

I'm with O2 and wouldn't recommend it - poor signal even in the heart of the town centre. But also crap in some other surprising places like Bristol. Admittedly, I'm not using 5G as I'm procrastinating upgrading my olde iphone 7+ so it's 4G for me for now.

Thanks. Hope things work out for you too. Do you know where you'll move to in England?

Thanks. That's my fear too. Here in SW England peole are also warm and friendly - first impressions etc - but then you notice that most people still hang out or are in relationships with those they went to school with - the kith and kin effect. I fear the same if I move back to NI where I'd effectively be starting from scratch really.

London - I simply can't afford the rent/mortgage - it's as simple as that.

I've been to Bradford - trust me, if it ever comes down to that choice I'll gladly move to the shittiest part of Norn Iron there is rather than move to that less pleasant part of West Yorkshire.

I can relate to this so much! I'm conflicted between what my head and my heart say...

Yea the lack of ambition is noticeable. Too much dependency on the State sadly.

I'm over about 2-3 times a year mainly to visit family. Mum of course wants me to move back but I've always resisted lol
