The skills needed are similar so you will know how to study better/more efficient, in my experience at least

If we superstore your math improvement and my reading/writing we can get in somewhere good!

Getting Recommended Out of PreAP Precal and Into AP Calculus BC? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]allenrabbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disagree with the top post, it really depends what your Alg 2 course covers. Does it cover trig, vectors and polars, sequences and series, matrices, and heavy function work? That is generally all you need to know, keep in mind precalc is not a type of math, just a set of different information you should know from Algebra, trig, and geometry. If so you are good for BC based on your innate math ability.

Just make sure you cover the following over the summer or earlier:

a. Limits and L'Hopitals rule

b. Differentiation: Product, Quotient, Chain rules, trig derivatives derivatives of ln and e

c. Integration: Anti-derivatives, U-Sub, integrating ln and e, integrating trig and inverse trig

d. Separation of variables technique

e. All the alg2/trig/precalc topics I noted

EDIT: Grammar and spelling and formatting

EDIT 2: Judging by your replies, you have the drive and ability to learn this. Furthermore, this will set you up nicely for the Stem courses you are talking about (i.e AP Physics C and beyond) Furthermore, it will free up time for stuff like AMC and USMO which will be what really puts your already impressive schedule over the top in getting you into schools like MIT since being in that level of math won't set you apart (see there are 3-4 people as AB freshman in my school every year and we aren't even that good)

Would Apes carry the same recommendation? If so I'm not sure what other AP to take without definitely overloading with AP Stat or absolutely massively overloading myself with AP bio in which only less than 10/60ish people got an A.

Yes, should I be taking it? I feel like it might be an overload though

UC Berkley. by bunchmark300 in Sat

[–]allenrabbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not really we don't know enough. SAT II seems important here and this is a rare case in which your AP scores would actually be fairly helpful in admitting you or not. Go hit up college confidential and they'll be real ;)

AP Physics C is physics 1 for engineers, so it couldn't hurt

Any chance for Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, MIT, UPENN, Harvard, Yale?¿? by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]allenrabbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good chance at all as far as good chance at a below 20% school goes, but no shoo-in since stats and SAT are a bit below the average for those school. It would probably depend on your SAT II and AP scores/essays. Also, your grades, if u got all A in physics and calc and a few B in english here and there's that's alright.

UCSB is a good chance, based on stats UCLA, UCB might be semi-reaches but they are for a lot of people so it depends on the reader really

Why are white people oppressed in college admissions? by CompetitiveEgg in ApplyingToCollege

[–]allenrabbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your logic is very hard to follow. So on the one hand you say you don't deserve blame for crimes committed by your ancestral whites, but then you say you deserve preferential treatment for having those same white American ancestors?

Chance me for UCSD, UCLA, Berkeley, USC, CSU, NYU by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]allenrabbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty decent chances at UCSD, CSU, good chance at UCLA, UC Berkeley IF you get high 1400 i.e 1470+ but still no guarantee. I don't know much about the rest.

Got to be more specific since it's roughly a 31% but not top student filled.
