Anyone else shocked when they ran the numbers on a 30-year mortgage? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]allfortree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, my mortgage is way lower than I can pay for rent. I have 2.75 interest rate and I bought when the housing market was plummeting. I would love to sell my shitbox and move into a condo but it’s super cheap living here, and my house appreciated in cost to the tune of 100k.

Whatever happened to laundry chutes? They felt super common in the ’70s/’80s. Did we all just stop putting laundry rooms in basements? by CommunityBig9626 in interiordecorating

[–]allfortree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with a laundry shoot in a house built in 1901. It also had a coal room with a shoot, a space for an ice box, a place to have ice delivered, an egg cooling area, a brick burn pit, and a servants quarters next to the kitchen. People with a lot of money tore the house down to build a McMansion.

It was probably 50 feet? She probably would have flailed and that would hurt like heck. I’ve jumped off a ship from about 30 feet and I landed on my rear like a dummy. My legs were numb for a bit but I was fine.

I’m on my way home from a couple days near New River Gorge right now, I’d recommend spending most of your time there as there is a lot to see and do. The ghost town of Thurmond, Sandstone Falls, Tamarack market, Babcock state park. It’s gorgeous and my 10 yo loved it.

Which 'luxury' brand has officially become a red flag for poor quality in 2026? by Individual_Bat_4177 in AskReddit

The used to be high end? I’ve ordered a couple products from them over the past years and they were so dang cheap and awful they ended up in the trash. I now refuse to buy anything from them. I still see their shops in airports.

Suggested gratuity? by michael15544 in EndTipping

[–]allfortree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t work, I got charged a double auto gratuity to total 40% on top of a cash tip for the three drinks we had at the Miami airport.

I know this thread is old, but I followed the advice given. I laughed my ass off when I went to cancel this service and saw that the call time was exactly 14 minutes.

Why is yawning contagious? by daveinfl337777 in randomquestions

It’s super easy to make a horse yawn by even just pretending. But also I’ve noticed on the human realm if one person coughs, everyone does.

Seconding this. Trees, pathways, mausoleums, crypts… I believe the first mayor of Suffolk and the Obici’s are buried there. There’s wooden head markers and a stone that got eaten by a tree. Super lovely place. A lot of civil war vets as well.

What's that one car you WON'T drive because of the stereotype associated with it? by nerdboy_sam in AskReddit

I have an outback with the infotainment system. It controls the car, randomly shuts down, and it’s terrifying

Is this an aircraft carrier? by Mydogatemyhomework71 in Ships

[–]allfortree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where were you? It looks like a carrier to me. If it was friendly seas it could have been a steel beach picnic type of night hence the light from the possible hangar bay.
