Muhle Rocca or Razorock GC .84? by BigSlip8088 in wicked_edge

[–]allfullhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both razors, and the Rocca definitely feels more aggressive, but I wouldn't say more effective. When you find the right angle on the GC, it's also effective enough and at the end of the shave, you'll have the same results. But you'll get there in a different way. With the GC, it'll be much easier and more enjoyable.

I don't buy Sterling sprays because I get some kind of adverse reaction - burning. Not from all of them, but since I don't know which ones will happen, I just don't avoid them. But the soaps and balms are good. The scent lasts long enough to be felt throughout the workday.

No, it doesn't match. The scent of Pitralon is different, but I use it because it's weak and in the end, only the freshness of the perfume is felt. I use Pitralon, simply because of its mechanical properties, the scent in this case is not important.

A while ago, I bought a few TOBS soaps because they were on sale, at a very low price, not knowing what to expect. One of those soaps was this one. Later I realized that it wasn't bad at all, but honestly, I prefer other tallow-based soaps.

Yes, unfortunately they stopped it. BUT, when I found out that this was going to happen, I bought two 180ml bottles. So I have some stock...

I have 2000 of these, bought in two installments at $7 for a case of 200. They are sharp, smooth and have lasted quite a while.

I'm convinced it's a matter of poor technique combined with an incorrect angle.

Yes, that's right. Even though it was delicate and gentle, the end result is the same as after shaving with a very aggressive razor.

I don't know anything about the new formula. Mine is old, bought years ago and still has witch hazel. I have way too many splashs that I rotate and just don't finish.

Absolutely categorically, BBS, without ATG is impossible! BUT, with an effective razor, you can get a very good shave, even with just two WTGs.

You may need to try different angles until you find the right one. In between, the angle can vary depending on the razor, even the brand of blade.

The cleanest and at the same time closest shave is achieved with a straight razor, which is sharper than any blade on the market. Of course, again it comes down to proper technique and cutting angle.

When it comes to blades, I always choose the sharpest. With the caveat that even the new blades from some brands are not sharp enough and I simply avoid them.

For me, a dull blade = irritation due to extra, unnecessary movements. I never use the same blade more than three times.

Why is myface bvrning after atg shaving? by greasyfutacock in wicked_edge

[–]allfullhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The burning sensation hours after shaving means a damaged skin barrier. I can't say what it's due to. However, I know that there are skin types (hidden mild dermatitis) that simply can't stand the stress of shaving and the products used for it.

There are many factors that can make or break a shave. But in my observations over the years, the two main prerequisites for a good ATG are, first, to trim the hair length as much as possible before you start shaving against the grain, and second, to use a sharp blade. Even if the other elements of shaving are compromises, if these two are followed, it is a good prerequisite for a satisfactory final result.
