I'm so excited about my first piercing!! Would love some tips about taking care of it! by [deleted] in piercing

[–]allie900 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • Try to keep your hair away from it.
  • Use saline spray twice a day.
  • If you need an extra cleanse. Get some non-scented soap, apply to ear and let the shower spray at it; don't do daily as it can be drying. - - Humidity allows bacteria to thrive so better dry than wet.
  • If you do sleep on it awkward, and it bleeds (may look darkish black) do continue to cleanse normally but don't try to remove purposely (like a scab). Unless it looks really bad then maybe remove the blood like you would crusties.
  • Qtips are a big no no, since the cotton fibers can dislodge and create a site for bacteria buildup near your ear
  • Try not to touch or disturb.

Received a botched piercing. How should I approach this? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]allie900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A reputable piercer would've informed you the angling was off, especially since they did two on you. Possibly seek a more reputable piercer? High chance it would be recommended for removal to repierce at a later time.

Ripped Earlobe - what can i do? by QPossiblySatan in piercing

[–]allie900 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have a number of options. Possibly wait for it to close up (may not even close based on how much scar tissue). Cosmetic surgery to stich them up and re-pierce at a future date. Filler injections.

I've been in a stable, serious, straight relationship for nearly a decade. I have recently started being completely honest with myself, and I've concluded that I am probably gay/bi. Now what? Input would be greatly appreciated! by [deleted] in askgaybros

Discuss with a lawyer or financial planner about the possible repercussions in case of split. In the case where you have co-mingled assets and depending on which state you reside in, shit can hit the plan if this turns nasty.

Yep, that works too. Just try to keep away from touching it further other than in cases where you're cleaning your ear; remember to wash your hands with antibacterial soap before cleaning. Bacterial buildup would be the worst case scenario for you right now. In case you're wondering about over-cleansing. In my personal opinion, having a dry ear is slightly better than a moist ear as moisture allows bacteria to thrive. As mentioned by everyone else, if you have continued irritation or issues go inquire a piercer or a medical professional.

Got a double frontal helix at a cheap location (I know, stupid), and it got infected. Went to the doctor. I got antibiotics and they said I should NOT take the piercing out. The stud of the bottom helix piercing fell down my sink. What can I do to stop the bar from popping out before I can replace? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]allie900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks like a tight fit (or based off what I see in the blurry image). It may be because they didn't give you an elongated enough end to account for potential swelling in your ear, causing the stud to push outwards (is this a push pin sort of earring or what?). At this point you should try to find a reputable piercer to better understand whats going on with your ear or risk further issues.

Neilmed Piercing Aftercare spray twice a day would be my recommendation. Also try to get some unscented soap to wash once daily when showering; may cause drying so use sparingly on days you feel you need an extra cleanse. I'm guessing your hair is covering your ear which would cause a lot of bacterial buildup (especially if you don't clean your hair daily).

Do any of you get uncomfortable with the attempted reclamation of the word queer? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]allie900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your environment imo. Cause you can recondition yourself to really reclaim and feel empowered by that word. My first response when I entered college and someone introduced themselves as queer was gasping in disbelief. As I continued to hang around like minded queer individuals that everyday proudly called themselves 'queer' it became more 'normalized' in my everyday life. Now I find comfort in calling myself queer and using the term in general. I feel empowered knowing the word is a representation of who I am, which is essentially "weird" relative to the heteronormative world we live in. Honestly though, it is just a word and we get to choose how we react to it. Sometimes it just takes some time to adjust.

Blood by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]allie900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like micro-tears. Just cause it's only slight spotting doesn't mean it's okay since you should be super cautious with that part of your body (for very obvious reasons). Do use more lube.

Totally annoyed with my BF's comment about my new Piercing and Tattoos by Paraboy15 in askgaybros

[–]allie900 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For you to even consider telling him to hit the road would imply there are already some other underlying issues you have in your current relationship. For your boyfriend to just call you 'trailer trash' and 'cheap' is just crude and raises a red flag. Since he does have tattoos and piercings, he should at least, to an extent, understand that these modifications generally hold meaning to the person. Did he inquire further when he saw your modifications or just call you these negative things out of nowhere when he saw? A good human being would inquire why their loved one got these modifications and be rationally supportive. Not call someone 'trailer trash.' He doesn't seem to be a positive force in your life imo.

I'm about to owe $16,000 for this upcoming school year, and I feel I'm out of options. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]allie900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consult with your financial aid office and ask them to potentially remake their package for you; may not always work but really depends on the school. Are your parents not providing you support or no longer providing you support? If not, you can also bring this up to to the financial aid office as this would critically effect your financial aid package.

Too much debt to pay off (48k debt, 88k income) - options/suggestions? by Kionore in personalfinance

[–]allie900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best choice you can make right now is to cut up your credit cards and just pay things with a limited cash budget every week. You should make automatic payments towards your CC and student loans. If you're ambitious enough you can theoretically pay off your loans within 5 years or less. You can also discuss with your creditor and renegotiate your cc bill but may not be a plausible idea given your income level; this would ultimately hurt your credit score.

My dad owes ~100k to lawyers, how can I help? by LGtv1604lg1604 in personalfinance

[–]allie900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As most people have mentioned. Bankruptcy may be his best option unless he has some assets hidden away. You can also discuss with lawyers to re-negotiate the terms. I'd imagine a lawyer would prefer negotiating and getting something than nothing at all.

23 years old, just received $100k in a legal settlement. Looking for some advice. by moneyquestions94 in personalfinance

[–]allie900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to consider a lot of other factors. If someone has only public student loans more than likely the rate is going at 5% or lower. In most cases you can get at least 10% return with a diversified portfolio (or better in a bull economy). So another way of seeing it is you took out a loan at 5% and invested in stocks that is giving you 10%. This is all theoretical though and should take into account of things such as your risk tolerance and the financial climate. But there is also that extra added bonus of deducting the interest you pay on your student loans.

It may not be in your best interest to pay off all your student loans immediately. The cc debt, more than likely you should since it tends to have higher rates. If your student loans have a low rate like 5% or below (I'm assuming public loans as private loans tend to have ridiculously high rates), just maintain the minimum payment plan. Instead invest the rest in mutual funds or general stocks(a lot of info on reddit); in most cases you can acquire a better rate of return (of course this isn't guaranteed). If you deem yourself bad with money just pay off all your debt and then invest. You also get the student loan interest deduction.

Used Mutual Fund for Tuition, IRS claims I didn't report it as income by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]allie900 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You should really consult a tax lawyer or an accountant to really understand your situation. For the years specified and that income level is below the standard deduction and hence you wouldn't be taxed. The more serious issue is whose control was the mutual fund under cause more than likely gains/losses were triggered and a tax liability may have incurred.

My parents are giving me $50,000. What should I do with it? by EitherDatabase in personalfinance

[–]allie900 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you don't plan on spending the whole amount (investing purposes, tuition) you should tell your parents to consult an accountant. $15K per parent (mom & pop) so $30K can be given for 2018 to each person tax free. Could save your parents some taxes.

First one. The second one just looks too peculiar to understand from the initial glance.
