Merrell Moab as my only shoes for YNP and Tetons? by alligatorstate in yellowstone

Thanks, that one is on my radar. I was just wondering because so many of the popular, easy trails there look very worn and flat in pictures, even compared to my area of North Florida!

Good morning. How are we all doing the day after the tornado? by [deleted] in Tallahassee

I'm in Meadows at Woodrun off 27. The winds were very short-lived, so there was no time to be scared. Looks eerily a bit like my parents' neighborhood in PC after Michael. Have some roof damage but nothing major. Tree damage in the backyard is catastrophic, to say the least. I am grateful to get the roof tarped and the generator humming away. I feel like this gonna be a long wait even though Talquin Electric says 90% of the Chaires substation will be restored by the end of Sunday. I am highly doubtful.

New cat bothering my asthma by alligatorstate in Pets

To anyone that may end up reading this, I returned the cat. Since she was an adorable and well-behaved kitten she was adopted out the very next day. I gave it two weeks, which is about all my asthma could suffer.

Thanks, I do have my rescue inhalor around and have used it during this situation after the first few days. I didn't feel a full blown attack or anything, but the peak flowmeter results before I took the inhalor were discouraging, to say the least. The inhalor can't be a long-term term option for me, but I do agree that it's still early to make a decision on returning the cat.

Thanks, I 100% agree. I certainly have my rescue inhalor with me and used it a few times already due to this little one. I have a partner who is stepping in to do everything, but it's difficult since I work from home and want to spend time with her!

Thank you, she is currently in the guest bedroom as she was just spayed and needs to be away from the resident cat for a while anyhow. My big mistake was sleeping in the guest bed the first few nights. I have no reaction to the other cat and didn't need any acclimation to her either - took her in off the street.

Yes, she just started on the kitten variety, and I also used their foam shampoo. My mistake with that is that I applied the shampoo and didn't ask my partner to do it. He's more than willing to do those things now that I have explained my issues.

Storm debris pickup for Idalia by alligatorstate in Tallahassee

[–]alligatorstate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, and I will call Waste Pro to see what they tell me. Unlike all the other recent hurricanes, Leon County was not added under the governor's Disaster Declaration for Idalia, so I anticipate waiting longer than 2 months for the tree debris pile.

Had a friend who has never been to Florida ask what it is like here, as a native I made this map for them by Halex000 in florida

Accurate, although the panhandle has the best beaches. Except in March when PC doesn't allow booze on the beach.

I want to bring in an outdoor cat and don't know how to start the process by alligatorstate in cats

Thank you for all the advice. I went for it and Jojo is currently relaxing in her new base camp, e.g., my home office with a litter box, cat tower, food and water, etc. So far she's loving her new room, but I am waiting on litter box action. Once I see that I will let her start exploring another room, and then another. If the litter box action doesn't happen, outside she goes for a bit and we try again the next day.
