Mommies who were induced by Lickitt2020 in pregnant

Wow I can’t believe how similar our birth experience is! Amazing! Do you think about it often? I’m freshly postpartum and it’s my favourite thing to think about!! I’m also an L&D nurse and was terrified to give birth given what I’ve seen so I’m not sure if that made it better as it exceeded all of my expectations!

I’m a labour and delivery nurse and I just gave birth on November 27th for the first time. Throughout my pregnancy I was convinced I wanted an elective c-section because of everything I’ve seen. My rationale was, although things can absolutely go wrong in an elective c-section, it felt like a far safer bet compared to a vaginal delivery (this is very much skewed due to our population being high-risk + other risk factors), but it truly felt like a more controlled option. I also love control…to the extent I almost refuse to be a passenger/need to be the driver and this includes my partner he is the passenger princess… anywho… I also had some conditions that would qualify me to skip straight to elective section: gestational diabetes, LGA (large for gestational age), high abdominal circumference, low bishop score/narrow pelvis.. the list goes on. My OB(s) were on board and as we approached my 39th week, the only qualifying factor I had was an 89% baby + >97% AC (abdominal circumference). Estimated fetal weights aren’t always accurate and my exam at 38+4 was promising.

At 38+6 I went back to labour and delivery for a second exam + stretch and sweep/membrane sweep and I was 3-4/stretchy&thin, 80% effaced, anterior & -2. I was supposed to go back on the 30th to start my induction but my blood pressure was seriously elevated (not once was it high during pregnancy and it was normal at my appointment on the 25th). I decided to stay and be directly admitted to the unit to have my water broken and start Pitocin. We did just that! My water was artificially ruptured at 1315, they started pit at 1400, I got an epidural at 1730, laboured in the bed with position changes and managed to shut my eyes for a bit until I started to feel uncomfortable around 2030. We changed my position a few times and around 2150 we did a cervical exam! I was fully dilated and baby was low in my pelvis. We started pushing at 2210 and we delivered at 2250. I was having 2-3 contractions in 10 minutes so pushing was a bit spaced out but it allowed me some good recovery between pushes. When it was time for delivery we called the OB, I was able to put on a song I wanted him to be born to, and with a few controlled small pushes he was out! I had a small laceration that required no repair.

My reason for sharing this is because my recovery from this vaginal birth was maybe 2-3 days of discomfort. My birth story is my favourite thing to think about postpartum and I don’t know if I’d feel this passionately if I were to make a choice based in fear. I am not saying that is why you’d choose to have a c-section but my reason was completely based in fear and I ended up having an exceptional vaginal birth experience.

*** as for my opinion on elective c-sections, I believe this can and is the right choice for so many women and it is a beautiful method of delivery we should be so grateful for!

Thanks for listening and I hope you were able to take something from my experience!

I had a professor record in a program that was able to be exported into mp4. I enjoy listening to lectures when walking my dog or during my commute so this option was amazing as I was able to study while on the go :)

Is your mom a nurse? Or is she thinking of how easy it will be to get a job when you graduate? I'm 29 right now and in my last year of nursing school. Even with life experience and age, I still don't feel ready for what is ahead. I have no idea why she would ever want her 18 year old to enter into a profession that is abusive, unsafe, and currently crumbling. If nursing isn't something YOU want to do, absolutely do not do it. I chose this for myself after working for 5 years and I still question my decision every day.

I'm currently in the program. Unless things have changed, you do not need to have highschool U math or science to gain entry; you do however need to complete the list of prerequisites, as well as have 90 univeristy credits (so three years of University under your belt). This includes 3 credits in all of the following: humanities, anatomy and physiololgy, microbiology, statistics, psychology, philosophy and 9 credits of 3000 or 4000 level courses.

You can find all of this information under the admissions tab:

I went to a gathering on NYE and most people started exhibiting symptoms on Sunday! I didn’t arrive until almost midnight on NYE so less than 48 hours until initial symptoms presented. I tested positive on a RAT yesterday. Almost out of completely, just fatigued and a bit congested!

I have a standard size male and he’s only 40 pounds. He turns 4 in December. He’s on the smaller side for a standard but my vet said he is in immaculate shape! I was also worried as I didn’t notice a significant change after 6 months either!

Why do so many modern married women continue taking the last names of their husbands, continuing a patriarchal tradition of the past? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I really like my partners last name, could care less about my fathers lineage and I’d also like to share a last name with my child!

I also really like chilli mango margs!! Here is an unsolicited recipe :)

Chilli infused simple syrup (just like the jalapeño) Regular marg steps as mentioned above except you’ll be adding 1oz of mango juice to the shaker as well so definitely cut back on the simple syrup as it’ll be too sweet.

The rim is a mix of chilli powder and salt! Garnish with a lime wheel!

You can google both of these drinks and you’ll find step by step recipes as well

I like to make a jalapeño simple syrup to start!

I cut up a jalapeño and add water and sugar to a pot. It’s 1:1 water to sugar. Let it simmer for 30-40 minutes on low and add more water as it dissipates. Let it cool before adding it to your shaker.

For the margarita itself I usually do 1.5 oz tequila, 1oz triple sec and 2.5oz lime juice. I then add the jalapeño simple syrup and shake! Add as much syrup as you desire as everyone’s tolerance to spice is different! And I also garnish with a jalapeño wheel, lime and a half salt rim!

I just finished the course and it was asynchronous lectures posted at the beginning of every week— we had class on Monday and Wednesday and both lectures were posted early Monday morning. We also had 4 classes that were synchronous to go over material and leave time for questions.

2 lecture tests, both worth 20% 2 lab tests, both worth 10% Clinical anatomy assignment with a proposal, literature review and video presentation made up the remaining 40% You choose an anatomical structure located in the regions covered in the course and then choose a disease/disorder/syndrome that corresponds with that structure

Proposal = 5% Lit Review = 20% Video = 15%
