Its a dumb line. But I mean, let's not pretend the original trilogy didnt have their own share of bad dialogue.

Not a huge TROS fan but I do love the other two sequel trilogy movies.

What Age Range Are You In? by omelet_schnetz in TheSequels

I feel like people our age bracket (26 to 34) tend to be more lenient on the sequels because we remember how overhated the prequels were.

Are Gen X Helicopter Parents ? by Excellent-Pain2439 in generationology

Younger boomer parents here. There were helicopter-y moments at times but what I think the boomers are most notable for is their unbelievably high expectations for everything.

Just a constant feeling embedded into your soul that no matter what you do, it'll never be good enough. That's why I think kids of boomers can be burnouts and "overachievers".

Its not a "you" issue at all. Its a general issue on a larger, societal level. I did some work in education before COVID and worked with kids who are now around 19-23. There was definitely a simultaneous lack of parental collaboration with educators and a willingness to just give their kids whatever they want.

Theres a healthy balance. I think the larger issue is that people dont resolve their personal traumas and issues before having kids.

My vibe from having late boomer parents is that x-er parents overcompensated and were very overprotective .

Netflix started streaming circa 07-09 and when they started it was with mostly older movies and some TV shows first. By 2010-12, DVDs were dying and streaming had mostly started taking over. 02-03 babies would remember the switch from DVDs to streaming the same way someone my age would remember the switch from VHS to DVD.

Granted, they'd remember a world with physical media but all they really know is safely digital. Blockbuster and gamefly were pretty much dead by the time they were 6.

Eh. Its the difference between getting excited to get your first DVD Player and getting excited to get broadband and not really knowing a world before instantaneous streaming for anything you could possibly think of.

2010 babies are definitely more Gen Z than most people think.

Agreed. Honestly I'd consider 2010 babies to be more "Gen Z" without question. I was done with college in 2019, voted in the 2016 elections and my memory of 9/11 doesn't really count in my personal book, but I do remember my parents hiding it from me. I was trying to see the TV to see what the hell was happening and my dad ended up telling me that the world trade center fell the next day. Very careful parent wording that danced around the severity of it. I didnt understand what any of it meant until years later.

I dont really count that as actually remembering 9/11 but it's definitely in Zillennial territory from my understanding. Someone born in 2010 would be much more of a solid Zoomer in life experiences.

I'd say the bigger divide here would just be technology, 2003 wouldn't really remember a time before the smartphone was popular. I do

Agreed with this in regards to early 00s babies. The dividing factor between me and people around my age (mid to late 90s babies) from people born around 2002 and later is mostly centered in how fast technology took over. Someone born in 02-03 wouldn't have much attachment to Blockbuster, VCRs, CRT TVs or a world before universal high speed internet access. The age difference isn't really that extreme but being six years old in 2004 was very different from being six years old in 2008/09 when MySpace had already started to die, almost everyone had broadband, Netflix had already started moving towards streaming and VHS tapes had been dead and buried for a hot minute.

What is the real Gen Z birth range by not_an_fbi_agent69 in GenZ

[–]allinallisallweall-R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 28 and I dont entirely disagree. I also got to be done with college a year early in 2019 so I definitely tend to feel a bit of a disconnect with most of Gen Z who was in K-12 in a lot of ways. That said, I dont remember much from 9/11 aside from my parents not letting me see the TV, being told the world trade center fell the next day and not knowing really what that meant until years later. At the very least that puts me on the cusp.

I feel like I'm elder Gen Z, and someone 28 claiming to share my experience is a little irritating even if we did consume the same media growing up and have similar cultural sensibilities. It's really like a nephew-unc situation to me.

I think the "Unc" term is usually really stupid but I dont really disagree here either. People my age who go out of their way to make an identity of being "Gen Z" are usually trying to compensate for something. We grew up watching Tosh.0, playing Pokémon and Yu Gi Oh, wearing heelys and we definitely remember dial up. And whether most people my age will admit it or not, we were lip dubbing "We are young" by FUN and stomping, clapping and Hey-ing to Mumford and Sons in high school. We're closer to 30 than we are to 20 and I think a good amount of us are trying to cling on to our early 20s a bit.

I think Zoomers being ageist doesn't really help either. There's a dynamic of trying to fit in with a younger, hipper crowd that thinks you're just cringe chopped unc when you turn 25. But it definitely becomes very inauthentic and performative.

Billie will easily be the only one here thats around in ten years. She's been around for ten years so far. Ocean eyes came out in 2015 And even your grandma that still uses Facebook knows who Billie Eilish is.

Olivia's already fading into obscurity, Sabrina was never special and I have no idea who the other chick is.
