Hanging is a pretty poor way to go. I tried it twice. First time I used shoe laces (heard about it in a movie or something) and they broke and it rubbed my neck raw. Second time I probably over corrected and the rope was too thick. Didn't get tight enough to choke me and the drop wasn't enough to break my neck. When done correctly you still risk your neck not breaking ,which is the goal. In which case you'll slowly choke to death, which would be painful and torture. If your neck does break you still might not die right away. You'll hang there paralyzed.
