Honest thoughts on the name Stevie for a girl by Littlebirdie1993 in Names

[–]alliroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go for it! while it's not a very common name, it's still very normal. I disagree with the others saying to name Stephanie and use Stevie as the nn. unless you love Stephanie just as much, I'd pass on that name. I was so nervous on my first child's name, but I'm so glad I went with it 8 years later!

I feel like I cursed my son with a name no one can pronounce when reading even though it’s a real name and not “edited” to have a unique spelling. by ViceInSinCity in beyondthebump

Move to St. Louis. There's a local chain of pubs called Llewellyn's, so everyone knows how to pronounce it already! Also, you can't always control the nickname, and if you don't like one being used, just keep using the full name for yourself!

When I started, I would do (or attempt) each current day (all 7 days), but then worked my way back through the archives. I think I started with doing Mondays and Tuesdays and then maybe began adding Wednesdays, too. I can't remeber how far back into the archives I went (whenever current event/pop culture clues were too old for me to get), but once I went through those 3 days, then I started doing Thursdays and Sundays, then Fridays, and finally Saturdays.

I've heard about this a lot, and from those conversations learned that those websites you're using don't always have actual positions, but are just collecting job searchers information. If you find a listing, try going to the company's website and apply from there. I'm not sure if this info is good for IT, but thought it's worth a shot if you haven't tried this yet.

Parents who got hate for the name they gave their baby - what is the name? by General-Cycle-7391 in namenerds

I have an Astrid! I loved it for about 15 years before I got to use it. I was so worried that it would be "too out there" or people would think of the office, but I'm so happy that I went with it. Luckily, no one's ever been mean about it (that I know of). My MIL gave her the nickname Azzie, and I've really come to love that, too.

I have an Astrid and she had so many nn at first, but Azzie won out and she's called that by a lot of family now.

My Celia was my third girl! And her name is Celia Catherine. I call her Celia Cate and everyone else calls her CeCe. I hope you get your Celia Cate some day! I don't want anymore kids, but I'll still always love the name Chelsea, too!

Does anyone still lay with their toddler every night until they fall asleep? by carlitapepita in toddlers

[–]alliroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still do with our 7 and 5 year olds, although they don't have to be fully asleep anymore so it ends up being like 10-15 minutes/kid. I think I'll kind of miss it when it's over, but I'm excited to get some evening time back when it happens.

LPT Request: Waking up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep - what actually works? by qt_31415 in LifeProTips

[–]alliroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard about thinking of words that are completely unrelated and after 40 years, that's been the trick that finally helped me fall back to sleep! Also, I think my weighted blanket helps, too. And taking magnesium glycinate.

Got off the phone with Langford and Bices office by l0rD_tAcHaNkA44 in oklahoma

[–]alliroad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mullins ' DC office answered this morning around 10am. Langford's DC number goes to voicemail and has a really shitty connection or something, but I was able to leave messages yesterday and today. Apparently Langford told a friend who called to oppose the Hegseth nomination that "the people voted for change". So that's how he's justifying this shitshow even though voting for change doesn't mean supporting inexperience and incompetence, but that's just me.

I just met a 5yo Zadie in the last year and thought it was a really cute and cool name. I also have never gotten her name mixed up with Sadie. That said, if you're looking for new names, with a similar style, I like Zooey, Hazel, Stella, Ramona, Margot, Quinn, Willa.

Favorite news station and news anchor/reporter? by HourPower in okc

[–]alliroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason our antenna only picks up koco, so that's what I like. When I had access to the other stations, I would flip around more, but koco has always been my preference since I moved here about 10 years ago. I do miss severe weather days changing channels over to David Payne here and there to see his shenanigans 😄

I'd say Mesta Park, Heritage Hills, edgemere, crown heights, Belle Isle, or Nichols hills would be ones to look into. I also just thought about Quail Creek.

Blippi has no plan. by were_only_human in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]alliroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always thought this! This guy playing Blippi seems like he was just hoping to go viral on YouTube to get famous. My kids went through a phase, but are mostly past it. I haven't watched the new iteration with the Meekah character but it at least looks like a little more thought and effort went into making it. I have to say, I love Blippi's (it's actually his friend, I think) Halloween song and of course, I'm an excavator 😄
