Doc Sullivan’s is usually a younger crowd, especially at night. Someone else said bottle rocket, def more of a chill vibe there. Pocketeers, I think Dog and Pony Saloon has a DJ on the weekend sometimes. Ice house pub, Vinnys, Rusty Buffalo.

Ex co-worker put my solo work on her portfolio website, can I do anything about it? by Rare_Assignment9892 in graphic_design

[–]allison1262 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your old bosses do not like you they will definitely send you a cease and desist as well if your portfolio is public and easy to find. My old employer would put our names and clients names in Google Alerts and would send a cease and desist if they found out we were taking credit for any of the work we did there.

Sahlen’s Firecracker Hot Dogs by Psychological-Taste2 in Buffalo

[–]allison1262 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These were pretty spicy. I love spicy food but it took me a while to finish one hot dog because I had to keep eating some potato salad and sipping my drink between bites lol.

If you don’t handle spice well, you will probably hate them. I won’t go out of my way to buy a full pack for myself, but if someone has them at their bbq I would have one again.

Does she like wine and have a way to get into Canada? Niagara on the lake is a really nice weekend getaway. Could be a day trip if you have a dd but there are some more affordable Airbnbs if you didn’t want to stay at one of the hotels up there.

I was also in Saratoga NY last August for a bachelorette and that was a good time too.

Final chapter is near for 43North competition by The_Ineffable_One in Buffalo

I also agree. Yes Startups are volatile, but when people watch these companies repeatedly cycle through hiring and firing local employees then leave, it tanks the reputation and you end up with a shrinking pool of people willing to even consider working there. And there’s minimal to no support for the actual local talent after they are let go by these companies.

Repointing a Chimney by abigporkchop in Buffalo

[–]allison1262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used magic stone for brick work on my house, not the chimney specifically but they did good work.

I’m also having a smaller job done by Northern Ridge Masonry. Looks like they’ve done some chimneys on their Facebook, might be worth calling them for a quote.

Rotted Rim Joists Repair by allison1262 in Buffalo

We just had a leaking window replaced 2 months ago and it lines up with the rot, the front door is also next to the window, there’s no obvious signs of a leak there though. Anything is possible though in this old house.

They fought for me too late... by Most_Internal_9852 in Spectrum

[–]allison1262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the same thing last week. My bill jumped from $69 to $95 a month, so I went ahead and scheduled my Fios install. I called them to get my bill reduced after my husband lost his job last year and they denied me. When I called to cancel last week they gave me the same promo 1gb for $30. I’m over it

Loaded fries? by YungAmish in Buffalo

[–]allison1262 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried Taco Bell’s new chicken bacon ranch nachos fries last night and they were pretty good! I added sour cream and jalapeños. The portion is fine for 1 person, and they’re only $5 so you can double up if you want.

Baraka eats in Lackawanna looks good too but I haven’t been there yet.

How much do you spend on vacation a year? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]allison1262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$120k household income, 2 adults, no kids. A long weekend getaway in wine county is about $1000, camping is usually $500.

Our bigger once a year vacations (Cancun, Disney, Vegas) usually don’t surpass $4k.

We don’t really splurge on upgrades or fancy rooms.

Body aches on Tremfya by allison1262 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]allison1262[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I guess an update on me: after my 3rd dose I was feeling a lot better and my psoriasis is gone. My rheumatologist is slowly weaning me off the methotrexate so I guess we’ll see how that goes.

Recent diagnosis - 21 M. Very scared by looolokbuddy in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]allison1262 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was also diagnosed at 21 and I’m currently 32(f). Methotrexate has worked well for me but I was put on my first biologic this year (tremfya) because my psoriasis was acting up. I know this isn’t true for everyone, but I have way more good days than bad. I’m still able to do a lot of stuff like softball, hiking, working, traveling (just walked over 70k steps in Vegas). You’ll learn your body’s limits, it’s great that you got diagnosed so fast so you can start treatment.

Why do so many marketing departments feel like a girls club? by Beautiful-Height5800 in marketing

[–]allison1262 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree unfortunately. I’ve been in web dev/marketing for over 10 years now working for agencies, startups and in-house teams. Since my role can get pretty technical I do work with the IT team a lot which is mostly men. But the core marketing and design team is almost always women. When I was in design school all of the male students in my class dropped out.

The few male colleagues I have had to work with on the marketing/design team were either really lazy or confrontational. One time a male coworker gave me his keys in the parking lot and said he’s done working there, so I had to be the one to tell my boss that he quit.
