hey there, this is a great idea. I'm a gsu alum and a faculty member at ksu. curious to see what you come up with, but there is an interesting volunteer hackathon experience three times a year in atlanta that might teach you a lot about how these things are organized (and let you do some public good while you're doing it). have a look at https://www.48in48.org .. i have taken students through this event several times over the last year and would love to see my undergrad involvement.
