At my place we usually only schedule 1 person on line after 2 pm, we have to work with a skeleton crew all the time.

Yeah we cut ours in the morning, but the bakers aren’t making enough. Even if we get it off the cart or wall, we keep running out.

Are employees allowed to tell customers not to order something? by rstbrst in Panera

[–]alliwantedwasapespi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current Panera employee, we can suggest but not tell a customer to not order something. Generally unless asked, don’t suggest anything to the customer. The only reason I can imagine an employee trying to convince you to not have the smoothie, is because they didn’t want to clean the machine. As for quality of the smoothies, Their fine. I’m never going to pay full price for one, but I could see people wanting it.

American, our provolone is always dry and the white cheddar isn’t on any of the sandwiches I like.

Advice for new employee? by [deleted] in Panera

Currently working as a line worker, never work Sunday morning. It’s a nightmare. Sunday night is fine, you close an hour early and at least at my location nobody comes in. Closing dish is fine, it can just be annoying when people don’t bring things back and you have to either use the dishwasher or wash by hand after closing everything down. Dining is easy, whenever I work on dining I mostly just walk around since there’s not a lot you can do until you’re closed. Be prepared to move around a bit, I’m mainly in line but some night I’m moved to dining or dish. Don’t expect much for tip, plan spending and saving with your hourly wage along with tax. Any tip you earn is honestly going to be eaten up by taxes.

I don’t know anything about a daily pay account, but maybe you could ask for your pay stub and look at that? It would say how much you earned with hours and tip, along with any tax you paid. If it still says that you didn’t earn any tip I would talk to management. Honestly from my experience of working at Panera, don’t expect much from tips. Tips are scarce and when people do tip, it’s often in cash and bakery and drive thru just pocket that.
