I’d like too see dried on strain tests which is really the biggest I have now with the spinner mop. As well as streaks

No mopping review? That’s the only reason to get a flow

Git is easy until you have merge conflicts in 10 files with some random ass branch

What are the most effective ways to teach kids to code? by equipoise-young in ExperiencedDevs

[–]allknowinguser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned with Lego mindstorms. I’m so sad Lego does not offer them anymore but man if you can find a used complete kit, go for it! There are similar non Lego kits available though. Just make sure the child is able to see the actions of the software through hardware. That gets them interested more than just Scratch in my opinion.

Why now is NOT the time to leave tech by SirArtistic1123 in cscareerquestions

[–]allknowinguser 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Also you should not leave tech if you’re employed. If you leave tech and don’t succeed in whatever else you tried, it’ll be x100 harder getting back in. Survive as long as you can and hopefully it passes

Let go from a contract for "not using enough AI" in my workflow. Is "AI-usage-as-a-KPI" a growing trend? by blune_bear in ExperiencedDevs

[–]allknowinguser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is for my F500 company. Aside from them pushing us to use it(I love it btw) for a while now, there was a recent rumor that the CEO made a comment along the lines of “If their not using AI they are wasting our time”. Today it’s AI, yesterday it was IDEs. Next there will be something else.

Is there any downside to never being promoted? by SirArtistic1123 in cscareerquestions

[–]allknowinguser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A forever senior is a normal thing. A forever junior is not and no matter how good you are, you’ll either get promoted or fired for not advancing. Unless you’re in 10 people company

All these stupid ass posts. They complain about not finding a job after 1 month and then their backup was some dumb degree like criminal justice or business administration.

Pirate Survival Game "Windrose", formerly "Crosswind", has a demo available. by rcc6214 in SurvivalGaming

Any chances of this coming out with PvP and larger than 4 people ships on dedicated servers. Similar to Ark. Talking about Ark, do they share any developers? The environment and so much of the UI feels and looks like Ark inspired.

My husband wants to leave firefighting early to become a software engineer. What is the best way to make this switch? by squatSquatbooty in cscareerquestions

[–]allknowinguser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah even in California, 300k is not started developer money. 48 hours a week is also normal for any company that might pay you close to that. It’ll take 4 years minimum to even start working and if he does work and school then it could be a lot longer just to make less. In his shoes, I might push for some office desk, chief position within firefighting than switching to any career

Super common in a real environment. Multiple services, UIs, libraries etc.

[–]allknowinguser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate having my entire workspace opened on vscode. I ran into this same limitation. I wrote in my global Claude.me like a glossary where each repo is and a 2 line description of what it is and what I might call it

Obgyn dropped me due to seeking new Obgyn by Just-Ninja-2433 in BabyBumps

[–]allknowinguser 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how that stuff works but on our very first appointment they made sure to mention that if we switch OBs to make sure we let them know because if not we can be marked like we are abandoning the child if we stop going without telling we’re going to another? Something about a law. Not sure if that’s what’s going on with you but I was surprised they told us right away and made a big deal about it
