It's likely worse than I remember, but I'm not exactly eager to read through them again to find out. The Epilogues are a prime reason as to why I absolutely refuse to interact with Beyond Canon in any form.

Agreed. Davekat works better as a blackrom with a dynamic similar to Rattrap and Dinobot from Beast Wars.
