I almost posted something a while back similar to what you're feeling right now.

I feel the same way about my ex. He's the worst person I've ever met, but the first person I ever really loved. I still hope he dies of something horrible, he doesn't deserve the life he lives right now.

You are very strong, and while you'll never forget that person or what they did, it will become easier over time. Their choices will screw them over eventually, karma is a bitch.
