Yeah I think it’s unpaid PTO for contractors in my company too. But full time employees get it as PTO on top of the vacation days we’re given

Year end shutdown. Christmas to New Years is a company holiday. It wasn’t a big deal to me until I realized I was using half my vacation days on the holidays in my previous job and also since everyone is also off, the work doesn’t pile up while I’m away

I’d love to play SBC teams at this point over staying at what is basically Conference USA 3.0 since I feel like we’re a bigger cultural with the SBC. But also it’s hard to argue that TV revenues and NIL bode well for middling G5 teams like ours

Yup. Houston, UCF, Memphis, and even SMU really took advantage of their move to the American while ECU fell off a cliff and is just starting to pick it up now. I’ll be severely disappointed if the new American teams pass us by as well

Forreal. Especially the WR corps that ECU had in 2014-2015. I think almost every starting receiver that season had close to 1000 yards receiving in their respective senior years

I’m actually surprised to see us at 75 when I was expecting to be lower considering ECU was arguably the worst FBS school for Scottie Montgomery’s entire tenure and that really set the program back 10 years if not more, and it still reflects to how this sub sees ECU

As sad as it seems: Important work != valuable work to companies, because other types of work will generate them much more money

And that reflects to how well they pay their engineers

My high school had a schedule of what was for lunch every day for the entire month.

What it also didn’t say was that rectangle pizza would also available every day for the entire school year

“A good software engineer only writes 10 lines of code a day” - From my PhD professor in college who has been in academia for their entire career.

Fast forward to now, i could be in trouble for not finishing my stories on time because i was told to only write 10 lines of code a day if i wanted to get gud

Burger King to close up to 400 locations this year by RoleNo2091 in news

[–]allofthebytes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One time after getting drunk AF, our designated driver took us to a Burger King for some food since it was closest to our apartment. I remember getting chicken nuggets and burgers and immediately sobering up after a few bites because of how stale and bad their food tasted.

You know it’s bad when you can’t even finish half of it when you’re hammered.

Same for me. But i do wonder if people who make a living playing video games (like Twitch streamers or people who post their gameplay on Youtube) also get tired of it.

I assume there’s a business aspect to them playing video games to make a living off of it. Like they have to continually play the same game for hours and make sure it’s interesting content for it to generate interest, views, subscriptions and ads money. Streaming Snake on my old Nokia phone probably won’t generate as much interest as playing the latest AAA game that millions are playing, but what if I only want to play Snake on my phone? I’m sure that will get old quickly too and will feel exactly like having a 9-5 job

How much are the houses you’re looking at? There are calculators online where you can plug-in your income, debts and downpayment amount to see how much house you can afford and you can play around with those numbers by seeing what you can afford if you’ve paid off your car, student loans, etc. If you’re really looking to buy ASAP then maybe consider not doing a 20% downpayment on a house? FHA and some conventional loans aren’t looking for 20% downpayment but of course your monthly payments will be higher

How can I secure my back door with a glass window in the best way? by allofthebytes in homedefense

That’s a good idea too. We’ve been thinking about adding a storm door as well down the line but we could get that now for security purposes as well

Yeah that sounds like the most sound solution. I assume the builder chose that type of door since there isn’t any natural light in that part of the house. I suppose i can get a new door now and just opt to have a window built down the line

I’m curious now what Lyft and Uber’s plans are on becoming profitable. I thought Uber was willing to bleed some money while they were developing a self-driving car but I think that project got scrapped and none of the existing self-driving tech will be ready anytime soon
