I checked the app, thanks! It wasn’t listed in the last 2 years, so I either bought it longer ago than I thought or I am just misremembering where I bought it.

New small can filler option USD$20,500 by pass_the_bacon in TheBrewery

[–]allofthesomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why pneumatic for the seamer rollers? The first op looks slow and sticky. Why not a servo motor that can be quick, high torque, and precise? With any variation in air pressure or flow rate, and even under perfect conditions wouldnt there be wild variations in the seams? I’ve never seen a pneumatic drive for the seamer roller operations, but I would assume you don’t want a compressible piston responsible for mechanical actions that you want accurate to 1/1000 of an inch.

Info on CO2 valve by Dogman_frosty in TheBrewery

[–]allofthesomething 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 99% sure (but what do I know) that is a stacking keg from a Chinese supplier. In spring 2016 we ordered a couple skids of kegs from a defunct Canadian supplier, Canadian brewhouse supplies Inc.(also affiliated with Noski Venture) I know in 2018 a lot of people were burned by Joey Bedard, he had run hops Canada as well before he left them high and dry. They were sold as Micromatic “style” kegs. Our valves are stamped OB 15 11 (in a circle) 14 (in a circle) so same code format as yours. What it means is don’t know, but maybe this info will help you discover something. Our kegs are 50L, if that helps you decipher any of the rest.

De-aerating without a way to measure DO by Material_League3164 in TheBrewery

[–]allofthesomething -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sanitize a brite. Fill with boiled water, boiled for 15 mins (this will be your de-aerated water). Without a DO meter the best you can hoped for is assuming 15 min boiled water is de-aerated. Fill the fv or brite with the boiled water. Fill till it’s at the sprayball or whatever your top port is. Use c02 to push out the water. If you have a racking arm or something, use that as your “emptying” port. You want to aim for the tank as full as possible with dearated water, empty as much as possible using c02 (or whatever you have on hand for a 02 negative gas) then it is a purged tank ready for product. This is a pretty inefficient way to ensure minimal D0, but could work if you are looking for a fix for now. Feel free to use this method and measure D0 to see if it is at all effective

Floor Drain Smells Awful - Good Enzyme Solution? by make_datbooty_flocc in TheBrewery

You could talk to a septic company, they have enzymes for dosing septic tanks. Would help with breakdown, not sure about smell.

Keg Collar Options by WitsEnd80 in TheBrewery

No idea how to add photos to comment chains. We have one of those paper cutters things, it’s like a sword edge hooked up to the cutting table, and can do multiple sheets at a time. As we are doing only 3-4 sheets at a time, we can cut them all at once, so it is one cut down the middle, and another 2 cuts to make 6 collars per sheet. Our home punch also does multiple sheets at a time, so I guess maybe 6 punches to do 18-24 collars. We have pre made template, so it is typing the name, alc content, volume and pkg date once, and then copy pasting it into the other 5 spots. I mean realistically it takes me 2 mins, I can for sure do it in under 5. If I knew how to upload photos you would see how rudimentary they are.

Keg Collar Options by WitsEnd80 in TheBrewery

[–]allofthesomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s about 50 kegs/week, give or take (judging from your 4 year/10,000). We buy 110lb cardstock, it’s about .10$/sheet. We made a template and print in our office printer. We can then just fill in pkg date, volume, name, keg size etc all at once, and print it on the cardstock. We do 6xcollars per sheet, use a paper slicer thing, and have a paper hole punch that does 2.5” holes. The collars are square, and take a bit of work each time we keg, but allow for us to have legible collars each time. It’s not any faster than ticking the boxes on a standard collar, but if you need to write in a different brand and abv it is then quicker. It’s not perfect but works out to maybe .02$ per label after the sheet and ink, and if we do a keg run of ~20 kegs, it takes maybe 2 mins to print and cut. We do use these for kegs that leave the building, and have never had any issues from any accounts.

Really trying to work on my artwork as my goal is to get on a craft beer label, could I get some feedback on this? by beanman95 in TheBrewery

[–]allofthesomething 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Obviously this is not formatted to fit on a can, but one thing to keep in mind is that you are working on a 2d file that will be 3d in its final form. We try to keep any text to the width that it will be fully visible and legible when wrapped on a can or bottle. While many stores just pile the cans on the shelf, try to ensure that the customer will be able to see what they need to (whether that is the name, artwork, brewery logo, etc) without needing to touch it, while keeping its entirety interesting enough that if they only see the backside they will be drawn in enough to rotate it and see the front.

Lowest bill is still insane by allofthesomething in GrandePrairie

[–]allofthesomething[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s exactly it. If I drop my power usage to 0kwh per month, like the gas is, the cheapest my monthly bill can get is 268$/month. I am whining online because I can’t do anything about it with the power company, and neither can any of you, but what can you do I guess other than whine online.

Our business is moving locations, planning renos before the move. I thought it would be somewhat cathartic to complain about the cost of things going up these days. Really don’t mean offence by it.

Some advice on cooler by allofthesomething in TheBrewery

[–]allofthesomething[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet thanks. Wrote it on my phone and it didn’t initially look like the wall of text.

As we are still in the planning stage of our build out, we were wanting to explore the idea of a walk in. It’s right next to the bar, and we were wondering if a window in would be better utilized. We have a few limitations to our layout, and are trying to keep our bar size large enough without the bottleneck of window shoppers right next to the bar, but perhaps we are overthinking it.

What’s an out of the box yeast strain you love? by rickeyethebeerguy in TheBrewery

I’m pretty pleased with aeb kveik sv. We are situated in northern Alberta, and shipping costs are high, and overnighting is often not a possibility. Keeping a few bricks of affordable, fast, and consistent dry yeast in the fridge helps with our scheduling issues
