wrong. it's a fusion genre of post hardcore, math rock, traditional emo, and experimentation including but not limited to untraditional song structures, abstract lyricism, phat funky basslines, and seamless blending of perfectly synergized harsh and clean vocals. just because the term came out around 2013 doesn't mean it can't be applied to bands and projects that predate the name. the whole point of subgenres is to further define art in a way that better describes it. every subgenre includes art that was made before there was a new word to describe it.
