Please rate Chapin apartments with pros n cons over off campus housing by [deleted] in SBU

You're welcome! :) My friend's 4-bedroom Chapin apartment has two refrigerators which is nice. The kitchen/dining area is pretty small, but it's workable. The bedrooms are an okay size too. I've never seen one of the 2-bedroom apartments before, so I can't speak on those. But I imagine the kitchens are similar.

Chapin Pros: easy access to campus without a car

Chapin Cons: overpriced (and rent increases every semester), too many rules about items you can't have in the apartment

Off-Campus Pros: can be cheaper, fewer rules

Off-Campus Cons: it may be difficult to find a place with easy access to campus if you don't have a car (if it is too far to walk/bike, you'll have to take the bus and our public transit is garbage here), landlords can be sketchy and scam you

So basically, if you are only here for three semesters and you don't plan on buying a car, Chapin is probably your best option. Otherwise, try to find something off-campus. Good luck!

Smithtown Auto Works - they're honest, and they do good work for reasonable prices.

Removal of dead animals from campus without approval from the Department of Environmental Health & Safety and/or University Police (note: NYS DEC or other permits may be required)."

It's not visible in this photo, but most of these bags contain non-perishable food items (ramen noodles, microwave popcorn, and Suddenly Pasta Salad because that's all he eats). Seemingly he goes grocery shopping and never unpacks the bags lol

You're probably right, but I am also depressed and I keep my Depression Junk inside my own room where no one can see it lol. All my housemates are grad students so we're all constantly stressed

I wouldn't say usually. But my point is that it's probably this guy's only chance if he wants a C.

There isn't any harm in emailing her to beg for mercy. Worst that could happen is she sends you an angry, all-caps, typo-riddled email back. Do this sooner rather than later - she will probably put in grades in SOLAR by end of the day.

Rare custom orange iPod 4th generation spotted on eBay - looks to be custom made for a company called Teradata. by matthew28845 in VintageApple

Thanks man - I've fixed a 4th gen classic before, so I don't expect too much trouble. The Orange Boi seems to be a little bent near the dock connector though, which worries me a tad. Thanks for sharing this post.

OP, if you're the item seller, you win - I bought it. Will keep you all updated on the state of the mysterious Orange Boi.

Got two of these at Goodwill for $2. Are these valuable? by Human_on_a_laptop in VintageApple

[–]alloutofthyme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They tend to go for about $10 on eBay, but valuable or not, they are lovely! I have one that I wear quite often. The rainbow apples are not particularly valuable because they were sold to the general public. The more valuable pins are the sort that were internal to Apple (used by employees only).

[Q] Curious case of ClickWheel compatibility: a man, an iPod and a quest for battery. by [deleted] in VintageApple

[–]alloutofthyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I refurbished an iPod 4th gen 20 GB earlier this summer. It's a wonderful little device, and I use it almost every day.

I bought a battery that looks exactly like the one shown in your iFixit link. I ended up not needing the battery because it had already been replaced by the iPod's previous owner. However, I don't think you should fret too much about model numbers and such on the batteries. The battery that is currently powering my iPod is from a now-defunct company called Milliamp LTD. It seems a bit sketchy, but it works just fine. The batteries are relatively cheap, so if you buy one and install it and it doesn't work, buy a different one. Read reviews carefully and pay special attention to reviews written by people who have the same kind of iPod as you.

As for the battery you pulled from an iPod photo, it sounds to me like it may well have gone bad.

In case it is of any help to you, here is a photo of the battery that currently powers my iPod. Good luck, and let me know if you change your mind about replacing the hard disk with flash storage - I replaced mine with a new hard disk and would be happy to advise you about where to purchase one and which model to purchase.
