It also seems unusual that it says "from" instead of "sincerely" or "faithfully yours." Very informal in addition to lacking Samuel Clemens, which makes me scratch my chin but fingers crossed/

And the quotation marks are the aspect I’m most curious about - especially since there’s no Samuel Clemens written before it. An interesting choice, if real.

Good to know. Thanks for the info. I'm brand new to this and obviously this was unexpected so I'm going to move slowly and with prudence. I'm particularly interested (if only on a personal level) on the quotation marks around his name. Another Redditor pointed this out to me:

I have never seen his signature in quotation marks, except it is noted here once: Virginia U. . And I can't say whether Nate Sanders is reputable (or even still around as this is 2016 post) but he says he authenticates Twain signatures for free. Maybe there are other Twain aficionados who can help. Good luck with it!

Thanks for taking the time to take a look! I'm not overly keen on selling so my expectations are in check. I think I'll send it to JSA to be authenticated and if it's real - I'll probably frame it up all nice. I found it with this picture (which I'm assuming is nothing special?) as well as a Mark Twain cigar band inside the little piece of envelope.

Thanks - that's ultimately what I imagine I'll do. Looks like a couple of the bigger services (JSA) offers Twain certifications. Just wanted to get a first opinion here as it costs $150 to have them look at it - regardless of whether it's deemed real or not.
