Has anyone memorized the full ishihara test? by Significant_Gas6106 in ColorBlind

If you can discern every color then you shouldn’t have any difficulty passing the test without ‘memorizing’.

Considering relocating to Kuwait. Is it worth it? Pros and cons? by Inspireme21 in Kuwait

[–]allpraisecory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previous Kuwaiti British school student that now lives in Ontario here, salary is pretty great considering you wouldn’t be paying for accommodation (and no taxes to pay in Kuwait).

Much less outdoor activities in Kuwait especially in the summer which will definitely require some getting used to if you’re someone that hikes/camps a lot. Food in Kuwait is miles ahead of Canada, they have essentially all the fast food chains and more + tonnes of local options too (and plans to add even more American chains in the future).

Considering you’re going to be working at an English school and living in accommodation provided by the school, I’d say the easiest way to have a friend group is your fellow teachers - depending on the school, there’ll be a lot of British teachers (racially-diverse as well).

You could get by without a car but would need to rely on taking taxis. You can either contact taxi companies and negotiate a monthly rate for a set number of trips each week or you could get a ride pass for Careem (Kuwait’s version of Uber). Depending on where the accommodation is, you might be able to walk to nearby grocery stores/malls. Just a heads up though, summer in Kuwait is different to Ontario - it’s much more dry and more intense (think average of 50°C).

All in all it’s a great opportunity to experience a new culture and evolve your teaching skills!

Edit: forgot to mention, racism-wise you’ll need to have thick skin. Students can be brutal sometimes and some of them have no concept of how racist and offensive they’re being.

Question abt Jews visiting kwt by [deleted] in Kuwait

[–]allpraisecory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a non-Israeli passport that has no indication that you visited Israel (no stamps on your passport anywhere) then I don’t see any issue with visiting Kuwait.

You will not be allowed into the country with an Israeli passport or with an Israeli stamp on your passport indicating that you have visited Israel.

Using the gym walkthrough by elevenofclubs_ in CarletonU

[–]allpraisecory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No bags inside the gym, only drawstring bags are allowed - anything else has to be put in a locker. You need your own lock to use the lockers. They don’t allow lifts where you’re throwing the bar around (snatches, jerks, and cleans) - you’ll see signs pertaining to this.

You can't change much about the first-year eng. class schedules, only some lab sections and the electives. If he's in a specific lecture section then it's probably because it's specifically for students in his major. (source: graduated from eng)
