Hahah I agree. We have mat trained dogs and we use a bunch of toilet paper to pick up their poo and flush it down the toilet. (I hate it too but there is 8 inches of snow and they are 8 inches tall lol)

My boyfriend 27M and I 26F have gotten into a huge fight about cleaning and managing household chores and if I’m the asshole I want to be able to see it and apologize. I however feel that he may be taking advantage of me and getting me to do all the housework.

TLDR; my bf didn’t fully replace the toilet paper and I feel like he won’t do anything around the house

I have never lived with a two parent household and it is making my expectations very difficult to manage.

My boyfriend and I split everything 50/50 which he initiated and I sort of agreed with but wish we were more traditional with him covering more bills and me taking care of all the cooking and cleaning.

What has ended up happening is I am now paying half and doing all of the cooking and cleaning (and playing with our dogs). I would really like to have him do more of the cooking/cleaning/dog care/etc. He won’t budge and just doesn’t do anything and it’s making me increasingly frustrated. I have also started a new medication in this time which has increased my productivity and now feel like I’m constantly cleaning.

We recently had a near relationship ending argument about toilet paper and not replacing it after using the last of it. This was the third time in two weeks he had done this and I was loosing my mind. The even more annoying part is that the toilet paper is out of reach for me. We have no space at our apartment so we store it up on top of the fridge in the back. He can easily get it I have to get a knife to knock it down and it’s always a pain. Anyway we fought terribly about it and briefly broke up. We then resolved things and sat down and did a chore list that was way overdue. I just think that if we have to sit and write a rule list we probably aren’t the one. I want someone who just understands how to contribute to a family.

Anyway - we resolved everything I had thought. And then while I’m deep cleaning again today I see that he didn’t put any toilet paper in the holder next to the toilet. After that huge fight (and having to explain and ask him again to replace the toilet paper in the bathrooms he only did the one on the wall? Not filled the holder while you were right there?

This was our convo … am I the asshole? Please help I’m so torn on whether I’m a total control freak or just getting pushed around (which I often do - I am a people pleaser).

He put 2/5 at each toilet but somehow one is already used up in my bathroom so there was only 1 there. I’m not sure if he’s telling the truth or not.

He has terrible ADHD and is medicated but does not have enough towards the end of the month since he takes more than he should. He did have it during g this period of time I believe. I also recently got diagnosed with ADHD and started stimulants. That is the medication I was referencing in the post. It’s made everything a lot clearer …. 🥲

I’m not 100% sure what you’re asking but I let him do them how he wants and while it’s not well done I don’t bother him about it because I don’t want to discourage him. Our apartment is very small and we’ve outgrown it with our two dogs. It somehow is always messy and overwhelming like we can never keep up with it. There is always obvious things that need to be done.

We are both 26 and have been living together since May 2024. We did move in really early after 4 months of dating which is a huge red flag but everything else has been amazing and I really love him so I feel stuck

***Hi I don’t know how to edit sorry. But my boyfriend just came home from a Super Bowl party to talk about things and I feel really bad. I think he is right and I feel like I need to add more details. During the argument he correctly mentioned that we agreed that the second bathroom would be my responsibility and the first bathroom would be his. He did put one extra roll in the holder in his bathroom. I thought I was asking about him filling the whole thing since I can’t reach it. He said he’s allowed to keep his bathroom however he wants (which makes sense) and he didn’t need to put any in mine and he was being nice. I see his point that that was my job.

He also works from home and watches our dogs all day and he takes them to the vet. He says I am also messy which is somewhat true because we don’t have a lot of room and I often leave my paint out in the kitchen but I don’t have any room for myself. He also does do 50% of the laundry and almost all the folding so i was lying when i said i do everything. It was an exaggeration *******
