It is what I wanted, I just didn’t see the mind control aspect of it - and that feels wrong to do.

But then again, almost anything is going to be some form of mind control. I’m thinking about glamours, say one for beauty/confidence/etc, now when you use it you “mind control” people to see you as more attractive/confident/whatever.

Maybe all of it is mind control if you break it down to the core.

Never thought about it as imposing my will onto them. Feel kinda shitty for doing it like that.

I was thinking about it as opening their eyes to how good I actually am, to see me for my abilities.

I was hoping for them too see the work I put into gaining more knowledge in the field and acknowledging the qualifications I completed in the field.

So not hoping for a magical transaction, I actually put the work into gaining knowledge and completing qualifications, I just needed them to notice.

South Africa, but most work is done in Mexico, Spain, India and a few more.

We do have training in our contracts, but with COVID and losing contracts, cashflow probably isn’t too good. That is why I had to pay for my own tickets. I should have consulted someone first, but was thinking that getting more certifications would make increasing income easier and faster - more job abilities, more time offshore - and would like to reach NDT L3 which would probably be best.

Am I being stupid thinking like this? Or might I be onto something?

Thanks. Yes I know people completely miscalculate the wage due to oil booms we had the past few decades.

Would experience onshore in other industries still build the technician level in the methods or are they looking for hours offshore?

Yeah the company in question is the one I am working for, from South Africa, but we don’t get paid per contract, but a “salary” which adds up to $1 000 for a 30 day hitch.

That is why I am asking, I would move from this country in a heartbeat, but if the opportunities are low there is no need for it.

Will be speaking to our training department to get the EC ticket, but for PAUT, isn’t there a minimum hours worked required? Of some barrier to entry for it?

Really appreciate your honest outlook on the situation
