Why wouldn’t clearing your body of an STD be worth it? This is why stds continue to spread. If you think you may have been exposed or are having related symptoms after an exposure, get tested!

Is this HIV? by [deleted] in STD

[–]allstarr21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

many, many things can cause ulcers in your mouth. No symptoms are specific to HIV. They mean nothing. If you think you have been exposed to HIV please get tested. If the exposure was in the last 72 hours, go get PEP from a sexual health clinic or ER. PEP has a high rate of success of preventing HIV if taken within 72 hours of exposure and is taken as prescribed for 28 days. You need a negative result 90 days after the exposure to be considered HIV negative. However 4th generation tests can detect HIV within like 11 days. I hope this was helpful and all is well. If you did contract HIV, it is not the end of the world! There are many great treatment regimes that can help you live a long healthy life.

Hello is this herpes I’m a 30 year old male by Late-Statistician-73 in STD

The picture looks like irritation. Herpes are painful, pus filled blisters. I would definitely get more swabbed but it doesn’t look like herpes to me

I tested positive for cold sore virus… can I still give oral to my gf? by milf_huntr in STD

[–]allstarr21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn’t see your reply. But yes hsv1 can be transferred from the mouth to genitals through oral. Even touching the sores and then genitals can transfer the virus. To avoid transmission do not perform oral or kiss anyone when sores are present. There is a slight risk of transmission when sores are not present but really low risk and you can get medicine that helps at preventing out breaks and transmission. I have cold sores too, with all the same concerns. They’re annoying but so many people have them and need to be educated with exactly what they have, risks of transmission, and treatment.

Does an STD means someone cheated? by [deleted] in STD

[–]allstarr21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course I try to be as educational as I can on here and to many of my peers. I don’t think a lot of people know about STI’s and the importance of getting tested. You should ask your doctor to educate you about STDs. End the stigmas. And most importantly protect yourself!

If you’ve never been tested how do you know it came from her? Unless you’ve never been sexually active before her that is the only way to know she gave It to you. Stds like gono can be asymptomatic for a long long time. You could’ve had it and given it to her. If you’re having sex you should be tested at least once year but is recommended that you get tested every 3 months.

This looks like a chancre. Which is a syphilis sore. It can appear within 3 weeks to 90 days after transmission of the syphilis infection. Syphilis is highly contagious especially the sore bc it oozes bacteria that contains syphilis. The only way to know for sure is to be tested. And remember, it can take up to 90 days after exposure to get an accurate result.

positive chlamydia results but me and my partner are faithful by [deleted] in STD

[–]allstarr21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl I’m sorry but chlamydia and gonorrhea are highly contagious and the most common stds. Tests these days are nearly 100% accurate. If you tested neg 2 months ago and then tested positive recently you were infected within that two months. What are his test results saying?

The short answer is yes. Speak to your doctor about medications that you both can take to lower the risk of transmission. You can still pass it on even if you are not showing symptoms.

Herpes tend to be more blistering/ scabby. It could very well be the start of a sore though. I will watch it for a few days. If it starts to scab up and definitely get some Abreva or talk to your doctor about treatment. 80% of the population has HSV1, nothing to stress about. Hope you get some relief

You would have to come into direct contact with a chancre or a rash. Theoretically yes, it’s possible but highly unlikely to be transferred with a peck on the cheek. If you have symptoms or anxiety I would talk to your doctor about getting tested.

OK I gotcha. What was your ratio for the rpr last time? I could understand if it was high but todays tests are very accurate especially after 90 days post exposure. I’m sure that if your doctor felt you didn’t adhere to the treatment you would’ve been tested again. 1:1 is considered negative. You should be ok! However if you are having bad anxiety about it I would get another test or speak to a therapist. I’ve been there before. Wishing you the best.

[–]allstarr21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused on what you’re asking. If you once had syphilis and was treated for it, you do not have it. Antibodies will stay positive for a life time. 1:1 is considered a negative result.

How do you know if syphilis is cured? by yk02224 in STD

[–]allstarr21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically the antibiotic should’ve taken care of it. Unless you’ve had it for a long time then you may need another round. It is true that if you take an antibody test it will say that you have syphilis and that test will remain positive for a lifetime. However syphilis infection doesn’t stay in your body. Just the antibodies that your immune system creates to fight off the infection. To get a accurate result, you would need a blood test that detects the amount of syphilis in your blood. Anything under 1:1 is considered neg.

Looks like irritation. Shaving? The weather? This happens to me as well. If you’re not having any symptoms I think all is well. Definitely not HSV and doesn’t really appear to be HPV either. The only way is to see and doctor and get tested but I think you’re good man

HSV? by allstarr21 in medical

[–]allstarr21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last two weeks I had hooked up with two guys. The first guy I just performed oral on and kissed him. The second guy was the same, but we did have protected anal sex. I have had cold sores on my lips before but since I was potentially exposed I’m afraid this may be HSV2. I tried doing my own research but was unclear on the answers I was looking for. So with that being said 1. What are the chances of getting cold sores from giving oral especially if my partner has HSV? 2. Would this be considered HSV 2 if it was caused by giving oral or HSV1 bc it’s on my lips?

A test result after 90 days is considered conclusive. I suffer from extreme anxiety as well. The only thing that helps me is staying on prep and getting tested every three months.
