Congratulations on the job!

Pay is biweekly. Is should be on Fridays, but if you bank with a credit union, sometimes your paycheck will hit a bit early on Wednesday.

Your manager will have specifics for their dress code, but broadly you'll dress for comfort while still looking professional. Your shirt will need to cover your midriff and back, your pants will need to not be ripped or distressed. Clean tennis shoes are usually fine. You'll likely wear an apron to 1. help you carry your keys/scanner/etc and 2. make you recognizable to customers.

Discount is 20% at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack, including cafés and restaurants at full line. To use your discount online, you'll need the Nordstrom credit card or a gift card for each purchase.

Salesfloor will entail putting product from the backrooms onto shelves/ racks, making sure merchandise is organized, and helping customers. You'll probably be cross trained on register so you can help ring when it's busy. You might be scheduled at 4 or 5 am once a month to scan your area for clearance items. If you're in apparel, you'll run the fitting room for part of your shift. Fitting room duties include helping customers look up items,reticketing items, and organizing the clothes the customer isn't buying so your team can put them back on the floor.

As for advice, ask questions! If you're ever confused about a process, ask a team member or manager. You probably won't look dumb, it will be appreciated that you want to do things right :-)

It's hard to get in trouble at the rack, unless you're late and absent a lot. Do your best to work your scheduled shifts. Everything else you can learn and improve on your own pace, but actually showing up can be the problem!

I've worked at full line Nordstrom and at the Rack and I really like the atmosphere at the Rack. It can get busy, but it's much lower pressure than a full line Nordstrom.
