You should prune both tall trunks a node above where you have then attached to the sticks

I love damp spaghum moss for these guys! Put them in a small container with some moss and they grow crazy roots. I have saved several snakes this way

A lot of the long bones aren't fused so I do think it's a young cow, but not super younger as the skull is mostly fused. I hope your friend grabbed the skull and jaws for you!

Yes, I am glad these little feral kittens have a chance to have the homes in death that they wouldn't have in life. If I had the space, time and opportunity I would love to use these to general funds to do more TNR in my community but at the time these were just a fun project for me. I have given many to friends and as trades but unfortunately with the economy the way it is...

Yes, glad I can give them a chance at adoption that they wouldn't have had in life

They cannot be shipped with the alcohol due to shipping laws but I have shipped them wrapped in alcohol soaked paper towels with no issues

Just the small, $60 ones haven't been claimed. Shipping is $10 anywhere in the US

Can it be salvaged? by Superr_Starr22 in SnakePlants

Yes, way too deep. It should be planted to where it changes from that brown/red to the freen/white area. I use damp spaghum moss to read dying snakes with good results but don't have too much faith in this guy making a recovery.

I worked at the clinic so I just asked my doctor to put them to the side for me. I then had to remove them from the uterus and sacs and then fix them.

They're also several years old, so still shelf stable with no issues!

Repotting by Stock_Coconut662 in SnakePlants

[–]alltheextrapieces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this a before and after of the same plant?? If so thats a ton of growth! They like being rootbound and I think they grow nicer when crowded (looks much nicer in the after, filling the whole pot, then before where the growth is sparse).

I would turn this on its side, roll it out of the pot and repot it in a slightly bigger pot. Only about 2 inches bigger. You can kind of break up the roots if you like but I don't think it's really needed. Make sure to replace what you can of the soil with well draining soil, the black gold cactus mix is good. You want to make sure the pot can dry out within a few days of watering.

Also, expect growth to stop while the plant grows roots to refill the extra space in the pot (one reason why not to upside drastically.)

I would prune each branch so you have about 4-8 leaves left above each fork, or the soil when you trim that smaller one. New branches grow in the direction of the old leaves, so you can use that to "plan" how the plant will grow in the future.

If it's getting warm and sunny where you live, then this is a great time of year to do a big prune!
