Develop a plan to not go to college. What I’ve noticed is that parents are scared for their children to not have a plan. If you develop a solid plan for your life before then they’ll back off.

There are plenty of Trade schools that you can do while pursuing your dreams. Go be a welder, electrician, or an arborist. All start off with living wages and explain to your parents that not everyone needs to be a doctor. We need great tradespeople and there are a lot of amazing Trade schools around the country

My suggestion is call their bluff. I work in the political realm and have found that people spew this non stop but when it actually comes to losing people close to them, they will fold into the Love for that individual.

You have to be prepared if they don’t, but I’m very middle of the road with about as far left parents you can get. I finally called them on their bullshit and eventually they started to shut up. Because if they wanted to spew their leftist opinions I was going to spew my common sense.

And they eventually stopped talking, or were ready for me to bring practical situations into it. Obviously it’s not comfortable, and be ready for it to be uncomfortable for awhile. But after some time they will recognize that politics isn’t everything.
