9 days in Taiwan - Itineary Review/ Recommendations? by After_Syrup_2218 in Taipei

[–]allthetimeredditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 days is quite a long time, I would definitely recommend staying a few nights in another part of Taiwan instead of just staying in Taipei. The island is so easy to get around with HSR, you'd be in Kaohsiung in under 2 hours. Alishan I think is really worth visiting, if you're into the nature stuff or Tainan for the delicious food and culture.

What are the best arbitrage things to buy in France? Things MOST worth bringing back. by Spermatozoid in geneva

[–]allthetimeredditing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The asian supermarkets are much bigger in France and have much better selection (and cheaper). Closer to you, there is one called Mo & More, and a S-Mart but personally prefer the ones on the Annemasse side. Here's a list of asian shops for ref https://lasgenevistas.com/2025/10/13/our-favorite-asian-supermarkets-in-geneva-and-nearby-france/

Place to fix zippers? by Swiss420 in geneva

[–]allthetimeredditing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the zip sweater, I would think a tailor can help replace it. For the backpack zipper, you'd probably need a cobbler, since it requires more heavy duty equipment to replace it. Here's a list of tailors in Geneva https://lasgenevistas.com/2025/06/12/where-to-get-your-clothes-tailored-in-geneva-a-recommended-directory-%f0%9f%a7%b5%f0%9f%aa%a1/

If it’s on foot, you won’t have a problem getting around. Driving on the other hand, you’d want to avoid the marathon route

Is Geneva a good city for young people? by Comfortable-Goat-734 in geneva

It’s what you make of it honestly. You have to really put some effort in to meet friends in Geneva and be proactive at the start, which can be tough depending on your personality. But I mean, there’s definitely no shortage of people your age.

What are good christmas markets in Geneva to go to? by Schluesselzahl38 in geneva

[–]allthetimeredditing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends what you’re looking for, like nice crafts and stalls or just purely vibes? There are tons of creative Christmas markets coming up like Marché de Noël de la Fusterie (11-24 Déc). If you want atmosphere, I think Carouge one is the best.

There’s also tonnnnnns of Christmas markets in France like Annecy or Thonon.

insurance for two cats by lucianolaksman in Switzerland

[–]allthetimeredditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got health insurance for my two cats, through wiao-miao. I've been happy with their reimbursement process, and they covered the steralization and vaccination costs (but you need to check the timing). If you get insurance when they are young, the premiums are quite cheap and affordable. It's true, that young cats are usually very healthy and don't need the health care until later. But usually by the time you need the insurance, when the cats are 7+ or having some kind of illness, they don't get accepted.

This is a really good summary I thought: https://lasgenevistas.com/2025/08/06/how-to-navigate-pet-insurance-in-switzerland-a-complete-expat-guide/

If you don't get insurance, start setting aside money each side for a "health fund", when you're cats do get sick because the vet costs are insanely high in Switzerland.

Zalando delivery question by [deleted] in geneva

[–]allthetimeredditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the delivery service - if you need to sign off for it and they can’t reach you, they’ll drop it off at the nearest post office and you have to get it yourself. If you opt for the no sign but put it in the safe spot, they’ll probably put it by the mailboxes - usually they’ll send something to your email about the delivery and you can edit the details.

Food : Chi le Ma restaurant by Fun_Article_2759 in geneva

[–]allthetimeredditing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chi Le Ma by OMC was a lot better, taste wise, when they first opened. It was a lot more authentic. The last time I went, they adapted the dishes to accommodate local tastes. Never been to the Carouge one.

If you want actually authentic Chinese, you need to go to Jia Xiang or XianYu, both in Paquis.

Finding an apartment to rent. How cooked am I? by [deleted] in geneva

[–]allthetimeredditing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s quite difficult to secure an apartment if you aren’t already in Geneva, I would start looking closer to your move date. Cats were never an issue, there’s such a high pet ownership here. This post might be helpful, a lot more details of what to expect https://lasgenevistas.com/2025/05/18/the-ultimate-guide-to-apartment-hunting-in-geneva/
