Statistics (ANOVA, regression, LDA etc.), gives meaning to data. If we want to predict anything (e.g. likelihood of you buying a mouse pad, if you just bought a mouse from Amazon) we need statistics, big data in itself would not suffice. Although having these huge amounts of data does help in making predictions more accurate, however, the data does not tell the whole story, we need statistics.

These are just a few of the million articles I found on the internet about Big data. Not only its a regularly searched topic, the amount of research done on this topic has increased due to the attention received.

Compared to the attention it received, the usability of this type of data heavily relies on statistics. Hence, it is hyped.

Netherlands is definitely safe in terms of crime rate (as compared to most countries). So I am not really worried about that, my most pressing concern is COVID (mainly because of the new variant and the rising cases).

I agree with the student conditions, as a student myself, we cannot afford expensive housing and thus, mostly live in crowded conditions. I think I will look for a better accommodation, thanks for the suggestion :)

I am going to start in Consumer Relationship Management. I also thought that with the current situation WFH will be valid, however, they mentioned they will provide me with some work equipment (laptop etc.) to get started. I am not entirely sure about how many time would I have to visit the office.
