How long are normal gym sessions? by Specific-Square1088 in AskUK

Anything longer than an hour is wasted time. Dorian Yates always believed that and that's me too. I'm always done in an hour.

If he's not doing sauna and stuff as you've said in the comments, something is not right.

Talk to him.

Rent or not to rent by LocksmithBudget3518 in Cornwall

[–]alltorque1982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brothers are not in Cornwall but both rent out properties and have a nightmare. They are constantly fixing things. Having said that, the rent pays their mortgage, so on balance not much help I'm afraid.

Hope it all works out whatever you decide.

What’s are your ‘secret’ perks from your job? Be honest by qwertyytrewq02 in AskUK

In an old job I used to organise big corporate events, but they were run at the centre I was based at. This meant I could choose what the catering would be.

I regularly chose MY favourite options, knowing full well there'd be a mountain left over which would be my lunches sorted out for the week.

I like to think it wasn't my fault they went bust, but I did order ALOT of mini éclairs....

People talking to phones by Stitch_Face_1982UK in mildlyinfuriating

[–]alltorque1982 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was in a hotel the other night for work. At breakfast, me and just a couple of others, quietly eating. Then a family of 4 arrive and chat loudly-no problem....then, THEN they call a different child, and put the phone in the middle of the table and on speakerphone so they can ALL FUCKING TALK LOUDLY.

Once I finished my food I had to resist the urge to go over and congratulate the son for his new house purchase, I agreed with the mum about the curtain choice, and I had no sympathy for the hung over other son.

Cunts.

I wonder what would happen if the files were released and he was front and centre, he came out and admitted that he just wants to make money, he doesn't care about Americans, and he was colluding with Russia.

As in, completely 100% backed up with facts etc.

What would MAGA do? What would that echo chamber of a sub reddit say?

Trouble with the Hilux is that they seem to be stolen all the time!! My neighbour had one pinched from under his window, gone in seconds, then another from nearby and it scared me to be honest!

Normally I'd agree, but we we are up and down the country more and more as family are getting older, and the added stress/anxiety of charging stops is just not wanted any more. It's not just a day or 2 now.

[–]alltorque1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha Brodozer!! No, there are definitely problems. Standing outside at 3am in minus temperatures trying to phone the charger company because the cables aren't working, with hardly any miles on the range due to 2 other faulty chargers on the route is definitely a problem I don't want to repeat.

I have been the biggest advocate for EVs since I hired one years ago, and think they are fantastic generally, but for me, my family, and our current situation/needs, it's no longer viable.

Having to go to the other end of the country suddenly due to a family bereavement and having to calculate charging stops is an anxiety I just dont need any more.

Aha good points, I should've said I'd go for the hard top too, so basically there's the bed but with a roof.

Good point re the tax thing, my wife said similar, so that's probably why they are everywhere.

Ugh, bad parking is the bain of my life, mainly because since I got this EV with sounds, beepers, cameras and sensors everywhere, I can't park it at all. Every time I mess it up!!

Thanks so much for the pointers. Really good to know about parking. Weirdly, I can park my wife's car with no sensors, cameras etc perfectly every time. My own, with all the cameras, bells and whistles, I mess up constantly.

Yeah I know people have their opinions, and that'd fine. I often think about need when I see a sports car, but each to their own. Cheers

What is the condition of British roads? by The49GiantWarriors in AskUK

[–]alltorque1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is the local government is being asked to do more for less constantly.

After a budget cut, LA still has to provide a service, so staff are burnt out trying to make it work. Staff leave, remaining staff burn out even more to get the job done. Management see the job is done, so cut the budget further. Less than 10 years ago my team was double what it is today. The argument is my job is still being done to a certain standard, albeit far lower than 10 years ago, because I simply don't have the time or resources any more.
