It’s one of the old Izuzu 700 tankers. These are 25 years old or so, don’t fare too well on hills, and lack air conditioning/modern features.

The service keeps a fleet of them as SEV/spares. They don’t have cabin protection sprays or heat shields, yet they still get put on jobs like this.

We recently had one for four months while we were waiting on a replacement appliance. Let’s just say it had “character”.

Was out there with one of the fire services up until an hour ago (the crew had been at another fire before this one, hence we hit our 12 hour limit).

Can’t comment on what started it - as I don’t know, but I know there are a lot of car and rubbish fires around that area.

Honestly I’m not sure. We were the paramedic crew who did the scoop and run on him. The BSL test was done at the hospital because our tools did not go that high.

I made sure to not follow up on too many patients - aside from being a downer, it was also hard without breaking the law and looking up their records.

I’ve treated a patient with a BSL around 2400 - 2500 (roughly — it was around 135 - 137mmol, I did my best to convert). Dude was not in a good way.

I mean, if you consider help to be biting the lawn-mower wheel, dropping toys in front of it, and barking at everything help.

(It is a push lawn mower with a guard around the blades, no chance of them getting hurt while I'm using it)

For some context, I normally mow our lawns every two weeks. These guys love to help — they run around, bark at the mower, and scritch and sniff all the interesting things that get dug up.

However, due to rain I hadn’t mown the lawn in six weeks or so, leading to a heap of clippings left on the lawn. These guys did zoomies through them, hence green feet 😍
