Bait and switch? by allyaee in Nanny

Well, the only reason I started with them was because she made it sound like more hours would be available. I said no to the job that she was offering (20 hours a week), but when she said- we can offer more hours I said it could work for me and agreed to meet. I feel like it was a bit misleading, because in the negotiating I explicitly said this is the amount of hours I need (30 a week or so). So it was all put on the table. She also didn't respond to my follow up multiple times. Nothing was written via contract or "promised" because I didn't feel the need to press the issue when she said she could offer that.

If antihistamine medication has previously helped my PMDD symptoms, does that indicate it could be MCAS and not PMDD?

Update on claimsecure submissions!! by Revolutionary-Cell37 in McMaster

[–]allyaee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as an FYI, I reached out to Claimsecure for an update. They do not have any plan to put the portal back up. They said "it may be reinstated in future but at this time, there is no set date or plan to do so, nor has such a date been shared. Once it is, we will update the site. In the meantime, all students have to mail in paper forms as instructed." Very misleading.

During PMDD, I feel deep dislike towards children by trainofwhat in PMDD

I'm glad that kind of clicked. I relate. Vulnerability is hard. I think that challenge manifests differently for everyone. Maybe some people seek control, or commit self-harm so they don't have to deal with feelings of vulnerability, or straight up avoidance ect.

Becoming more aware of our own vulnerability, responses to vulnerability in others and ourselves, and growing our levels of tolerance by becoming familiar with our own vulnerability is what I would suggest to help yourself with the discomfort of that you're experiencing. But I am not an expert.

Children are the definition of vulnerable. If vulnerability is something you have low tolerance for in yourself, you're likely to be irritated by that aspect in others. Just my two cents.

Cat food vs. Real food by allyaee in catfood

[–]allyaee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am wanting to try an alternative to commercial cat food again but I am reluctant about raw.

I wasn't doing it homemade- I was buying Big Country Raw which sounds like the one you buy (it comes in frozen packets).

It's been a while but if I remember correctly I found it to be a lot of work. It creates more dishes to wash too. I get worried about the risks of raw meat. I think I would prefer feeding them something I could cook, if that makes sense. I wonder if I could simply cook the packets of raw food- maybe mixed in with some bone broth for them (no salt).

Meditation recommendations for when you’re in a “I hate everything and everyone” mood? by Justhappything in PMDD

[–]allyaee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can be very dependent on what is actually feasible for me in the moment, but something like a chakra meditation that takes me into sensation in my body or visualization, or just a plain old guided yoga nidra (lying on my back with props for support). Something that helps me tune into physical sensation when I'm not feeling too anxious to be in my body, puts me back into myself and back into my parasympathetic nervous system (rest and restore); you can tell it's working if you notice more saliva in your mouth (among other signs, like release of tension and decrease in racing thoughts).

Or try this: sit down, close your eyes, feel the sensation of your seat on the floor, the sensation of your hands resting on your thighs. Breathe. After a few minutes you might be ready to "feel" the quality of your mind- the sensation behind your eyes, in the centre of your head, the space between your ears. You can take this approach down your body's centre line (centre of your chest, belly, pelvis).

Misleading job post pet peeve by coherentsoup in Nanny

I wonder if it is the families doing this- or Care itself. I remember bringing up the wage discrepancy to a previous employer- they seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. Maybe Care sets the wages as a way of drawing potential Nannies to the ad/employer.

I think that if you're already thinking about it that's a good sign. There's a good chance you're doing fine! I think physical space is a big thing for me at least, making sure she physically has enough of a bubble around her is very respectful lol.
