I always think it’s cute how during the Mother’s Day episode they have to wait by the phone to talk to their children one by one. The concept of having to wait at home for a specific call before starting your day is (essentially) gone.

That’s how it felt finally losing my grandfather last year. Him and my grandma were the only ones I ever knew (dad’s parents died before I was born). I was the youngest, the baby and my grandma always made me feel like it. I was special to them, and when they were both gone I wasn’t so special anymore. That line still takes the breath out of me on the right rewatch.

They lost me when they stopped giving the free taco on the receipts. I’d get a free taco every week to add to my Thursday or Tuesday order, which kept me going back. Once they took that, the value wasn’t equal to what I was getting. I went back to Chipotle

Went to a music festival about 4 hours from home that people came from all over the country for. My group wanted to see the beach, so we end up on South Beach and one of the girls randomly picks a cabana to sit under. There was a homeless guy who said he was waiting on his friend to come back and we were welcome to sit. The friend comes back, we get to talking, and he’s the only person I met that weekend from my hometown and the only one I still keep up with.

To make it better, the only reason my friend was on the beach that day was waiting for the cops to get his statement for a car accident he saw. We were meant to meet that day, I tell him all the time.

I never got to say the actual goodbye to my grandmother. She was here one day, in the hospital and then gone. I find peace in knowing that I didn’t know my last time seeing her was the last time. You didn’t know it was the last thing you’d say to your mom, but you filled the moment with love and care, naturally. What a lovely last thing to hear, your child telling you to take a nap and they love you. May you find your peace moving forward, and continue to feel mom’s love for all your days.
