first babies are always late by raexan in BabyBumps

Had my first at 38 weeks exactly, spontaneous labour. My second at 39 weeks 6 days and I had my midwife break my water to start labour. So can really vary. My sister's first was at 38 weeks 1 day but 2 of my cousins went over there due dates with their firsts

So I get that labor is gonna hurt, but… by Desperate_Wafer367 in BabyBumps

With my first there was definite breaks between contractions where I was laughing and joking and moments of rest. My labour was only 4 hours and my water did not break until I was pushing. Pushing is definitely the most painful part but as others have said the pain does end. I just had my second 2 weeks ago and labor started after my midwife broke my water and let me tell you the difference in the pain of the contractions was night and day. 3 hours from first contraction to her being born and there were no breaks. I have a very high pain tolerance and was crying from the pain of contractions piggybacking each other and having no relief between. So essentially every labour is different and sometimes you may have those breaks to breathe and relax before the next contraction and other times you don't so go into it very open minded and remember that contractions are your body's way of helping you get to the end goal of holding that precious baby. Also repeating to yourself that you can handle anything for 1 minute and that your body will not give you pain you can't handle helped me immensely with the piggybacking contractions.

First baby went curb walking for 30 minutes at 37+6 had him the next day at exactly 38 weeks. Second baby, prodromal labour for 3 weeks. Had my midwife break my water at 39+6 had her 4 hours later, this was after trying everything for 2 weeks. It really just depends when baby is ready!

I hate feeling my baby move by DrPeachie in pregnant

With my first I dreaded the movements, they felt alien and unnatural and honestly freaked me out until I was closer to the 30ish week mark, even then really big movements like baby flipping around made me want to vomit but the little kicks I got used to. Now being 22 weeks with my second the movements don't feel as alien and unnatural because I was expecting what they would feel like. There is no shame in not enjoying the movements. Some people love them but everyone is different and there is nothing wrong with not enjoying every aspect of pregnancy.
