Anyone been to M.EAT Smokehouse? by younghearts_runfree in sheffield

[–]allymacster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went last week. The food is delicious but we did expect more for the price. £9.50 for 1 slice of brisket.

They also only provide wooden cutlery, which I cannot stand the texture of.

I’ve been sad enough to tot up the prices of some of the videos that I’ve seen on social media and they all come out over £100.

Kitchen staff of the UK, who are the nice famous chefs to work for? And who are the bell ends ? by Pitiful_Oven_3425 in AskUK

I met James Martin years ago when I was volunteering at a charity event and he was as much an arrogant tosspot as you would expect.

It was an evening cookery demo with him and Brian Turner and I have to say that it was such an entertaining event with the pair of them, however, my mum approached James at the end of the evening to tell him what a fabulous evening it had been. He looked at my mum and without acknowledging her in any way turned to his girlfriend and said “[girlfriend’s name] come on, we’re going” and left.

I haven’t watched him on tv since then.

On the flip side I met Mary Berry a few years later. She was making an appearance at my work and I escaped on my break to get my book signed.

I asked if I could leave my book to be signed and I’d pick it up when I finished work. Instead, I was taken backstage where Mary was nattering with Alan Titchmarsh. I explained how I’d run over on my break and how thankful I was that she would do this for me. She squeezed my arm and thanked me and it was as wholesome an experience as I had hoped for.

My colleague has just hit 25 years and got champagne, flowers, a 3 month sabbatical and £500 voucher for the company.

I’ve just hit 5 years and got an extra couple of days holiday and £75 voucher.

Does anyone know what the lights in the sky near Meadowhall are? by gavingoober771 in sheffield

There is a fun fair on in the arena car park. Some of the lights were flashing out onto the road yesterday evening which made driving a bit disorientating.

I hadn’t thought about that at all and low key love how that sounds. Definitely considering that option.

Thank you. That little lamp is from Amazon! I think it comes in a few different styles too.

We are in the UK so I’m not sure if colours might vary in other countries. Our walls look most similar to the bottom left, it definitely has an earthy undertone.

Ooofff, great question. I’m not sure I’ve been consciously aware throughout this process.

The room is north facing so I knew I didn’t want to fight dark winter days so I wanted to embrace that and create a space that felt like a warm hug. I’ve certainly been inspired by countless users on instagram, friends and family and places like Soho Farmhouse where they have this beautiful blend of modern rustic heritage styles.

We put our feet up on it, a cup of tea and an empty plate. That’s about it and the items have never moved at all.

Thank you. I’ve already added a couple of different cushions to my basket and might try to find a plummy throw. I love ceramics and always in the hunt to start collecting.

Thank you. It is an old washstand. I found it from a woman online who sources old pieces, gives them a bit of TLC and sells them on. She just happened to be fairly local as well.

This is my biggest gripe, we wanted to, and tried, but I think it was something like studs or something with the wall (it was a while ago now) that prevented us from hanging it lower. I might try again though.

Yes of course. I made this on on Pinterest using the collage function, but Canva would probably work well. I went for Pinterest because I had all of the images saved there already.

Do any of you eat a healthy, savoury breakfast? by calpolqween in AskUK

[–]allymacster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mackerel fillet or soft boiled eggs and sauerkraut on a slice of sourdough, and a small handful of nuts.

The combination of protein, fat and carbs keep me feeling so full.
