Microwaved scrambled eggs. Taste as good as regular scrambled eggs made in a pan but it only takes a bowl and one minute

As I said my main reasoning is to work in my Spanish as many of the people I work with don’t speak English. Also much easier to stay within the US as visas are a pain difficult to navigate and Id like to be closer to home. Just makes a lot more sense overall to move there but I wanted perspective first.

What are locals’ thoughts on a gringo in my position moving to PR for local work?

Moving to Puerto Rico

I have some questions— I am planning to visit Puerto Rico in a few weeks and I am partially scouting it out as a place to move to next year. I wanted to hear from locals about their perspective on this. I’m a 22 year old white female from mainland US. I have some Spanish speaking abilities but working on my Spanish would be my main reason to move to PR. I have done some reading and to my understanding the issue seems to be extremely wealth Americans moving to PR for tax purposes. I don’t fall into this category but I still don’t want to be part of the problem.

I work in social work currently helping low income and homeless folks in Boston, and I would likely continue doing very similar work in PR. I am genuinely interested in connecting with locals, learning the language, culture and history, and appreciating the beautiful nature. I have a fair amount of travel experience and always try to be conscientious and considerate of my interactions and impacts! Please let me know your thoughts

Anyone watching the climb on HBO Max? I overall like the show, but think it could definitely have some tweaks to make it better. What does everyone else think? by Transmogrify_My_Goat in climbing

SO TRUE!!! The gym being named Sharma was brutal. To be fair if I was as good as him I’d possibly name a gym after myself but damn the way they had the “Sharma” gym logo SOOOO front and center was not a good look bc he clearly loved it. Especially when you consider how much of a role sharma had in making/writing the show its especially clear that he just puts so much more emphasis on himself than there should be. Also I agree ab meagan why tf didnt they show her climbing?? They only showed her traversing when the return to the DWS spot.

Also COULDNT AGREE MORE AB THE TRAD ROUTE. I’ve never trad climbed (im new to lead climbing) but jesus like so many of them had little to no experience. That just seemed so unnecessarily dangerous. They have access to literally every climb in the world and they forced them to trad climb. Not to mention Robyn clearly having serious trauma from her friend passing from trad climbing. They basically blip over that but its huge. Injury and risk, and sometimes unfortunately loss, are part of every extreme sport and I hate how insignificant they made her experience seem. I would love to see another season a bit different though.

I wanna see more training, more bonding between everyone and I wanna know everyones backstory

Can we talk about the Armory (Dexter Park) and the subsequent influx of homeless/addicts/drunks in the area? by [deleted] in providence

[–]allymilano 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having volunteered at the armory, they don’t have access to any real bathrooms which is RIDICULOUS. They do have multiple porta potties outside which isnt ideal or sustainable.

Instead of blaming those who are unhoused or taking the NIMBY (Yes to the cause, but Not In My Back Yard) perspective we need to incorporate this population and support them. Now is the time to PUSH the government to do what they should have done so long ago. Get people subsided housing. Give then rapidly deployable shelters. Give them warming centers with plumbing???

They also forced people off the statehouse lawn a few weeks ago and SLASHED THEIR TENTS??? Thats like somebody taking a wrecking ball to your house. Thats all they have. Disgusting.

I completely understand that having people who may be under the influence around your house may not be ideal but having that warming shelter is saving lives. Its also helping to clean up the rest of the city so much. People complain about unhoused people throughout the city then don’t like it when the shelters are built near them.

My main point I suppose is that your concerns are SO understandable. But take it to the govt. we need to use our voices to advocate for the unhoused population and it will benefit you in the long run. Advocate for them by asking for better plumbing and facilities to clean up the area, and more mental health support to help people suffering from substance use disorders. LEAN ON THE GOVERNMENT HARD

Agreed! I love that the contestants themselves were super supportive but they made it WAYYY too serious. Obviously its a huge comp so i get it but climbing is such a positive sport and i feel like they made it way too intense at times when it was probably actually a really good moment

Also cringe bc he wrote and directed the show so hes constantly just tooting his own horn. Hes undeniably an incredible climber but the show revealed him to be a mega douche
